Zone1 about Patron Saints in general

Today is the day of Francis of Sales
in German Franz von Sales

Patron Saint of writers and journalists
.

Thanks for sharing this. I have heard of St. Francis of Sales but I don't know much about him except that he was a French Bishop.

.

Now is the day of Saint Angela from Italy, the patron saint of teachers. 😊
.

Father talked about her in his homily, especially about the Ursuline order which she founded, and their education of girls!

Pray for us, Saint Angela Merici.

Today ….

Wulfhilda of Barking
Valeria of Lorch
.

And St. Thomas Aquinas, possibly the most significant Doctor of the Church.

St. Valeria was a martyr, and I find martyrs, those who will die for their faith, fascinating and inspiring. Martyrdom is a favorite topic of my priest -- he is always asking us to think about how likely it is that we'd die for our faith.

Are you familiar with Bishop Robert Barron? He did a great video series called "Catholicism -- The Pivotal Players" and the episode he did about St. Thomas Aquinas was AMAZING! We have an adult education group that meets once a week, and we've been watching and discussing this series right now. I have learned so much!

I looked him up! Very educated man!
He also speaks German!

Let us hope so!

We're seeing an explosion of new member families in our parish and it is glorious to see the families at Sabbath Mass, with six and eight children!

And while young men are learning their duties as altar servers, we get the thrill of watching boys performing as servers for the first time. It's GLORIOUS! Our priest loves guiding and encouraging them as they learn.

So it is good to have Saint Martina!

So it is good to have Saint Martina!
.

I read a little about St Martina yesterday and saw that St. Martina was a virgin martyr, and found it strange that she would be so significant to nursing mothers, until I read about her martyrdom -- she was beheaded, and her body bled MILK instead of blood! So interesting.

Tomorrow is the Feast Day of St. Ansgar, Patron of Scandinavia.

Coincidence. Father asked us today if we could do some research into a Saint on one of our windows, and it was a little misleading, because our window has the Latinized version of the name -- Ansgarius.

Is he familiar to you, Zebra?
