Please don’t take these lists too personally but, to the extent that they are based on valid, comparative empirical data (relevant but arbitrary criteria, to be sure) do you consider some states to be too educated?

Here are the antipodes in this metric.

Ranked: US States From Most To Least Brainy
1. Massachusetts
Indisputably, Massachusetts is at the very top of the class. The Bay State ranks first for both educational attainment and quality of education and also has the second-highest average university quality. On top of that, Massachusetts has both the highest percentage of residents with bachelor’s degrees (but no graduate degree) and the highest percentage with graduate degrees in the country. The state is home to Harvard, the top-ranked school in the U.S. according to Forbes, as well as MIT, the fourth most highly rated school.
2. Maryland
3. Colorado
4. Vermont
5. Connecticut
6. Virginia
7. Washington
8. New Hampshire
9. New Jersey
10. Minnesota
-
40. Oklahoma
41. Tennessee
42. New Mexico
43. Nevada
44. South Carolina
45. Kentucky
46. Alabama
47. Arkansas
48. Louisiana
49. West Virginia
50. Mississippi
Would you prefer your state to be more or less educated?

So, states with more white people are generally better educated and more blacks and Native American less.

What kind of racist point are you trying to make here, anyway?

I won't, but I found it interesting how you eliminated much of the states to cover up a truth. Let's look at the WHOLE country by IQ:

Obviously, states like Massachusetts score among the highest because that is where many of the top universities and technical schools are attracting the brightest students and workers.

But curious that states like Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Kansas score among the highest as well, so there goes the theory that IQ is related to political party.

And while, yes, Mississippi ranks the lowest overall IQ, look at California here which I flagged at bottom, whose 95.5 average IQ is only one point above Mississippi!

Either way, the maximum spread of average IQ by state only spans +/- 5 points either way.

The concept of I.Q and state residency may have been created based on UN or European standards but it isn't valid.. Movement among states is as fluid as NY retirees escaping taxes and heading to Florida. Factor in the federal government's plan to dumb down the education system by dumping millions of illegal aliens who never had a day in school on overcrowded schools and you create the perfect storm for bogus statistics.

West Virginia and Mississippi at the bottom. Who would have thought!

As I noted, I only listed the states at both ends of the spectrum and provided a link for any interested in the middle, with no prejudice in either direction.

When you claim that "Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota (that I listed) and Kansas score among the highest as well, so there goes the theory that IQ is related to political party," I don't mow where you got your theory, but the states you cite are ranked, nineteenth, twentieth, tenth, and twenty-fourth, whatever significance that may have for you.

No doubt, subjective explanations for every state can be offered, but I merely provide the rankings without musing as to the contributing factors or implications.

Without the analysis of WHY, the rankings have little meaning. It may very well be just that there is a dearth of hi-tech jobs in the deep south so the majority of smart people there gravitate to where the hi-tech jobs are, on the east and west coast in big cities.

But then, no one goes to Nebraska for the fishing neither. Not Nebraska's fault, just that there aren't many fish on the plains.

Without the analysis, all we have is dry statistics without the possibility of drawing intelligent conclusions.

Or left open-ended and vague on purpose, so that leftist narcissist cranks -like the OP- can act like that those levels of alleged higher intellect apply to them as a matter of course.

Yes, clearly the intent of the OP was to imply that there is something in the milk or air in Massachusetts that just makes people smarter there (and by implication, being a democrat) while Mississippi just grows dumb people (and by implication, republicans). The facts clearly don't support that. Just another thinly veiled leftwing ploy to try to put down conservatives.

The academic rankings presented with no commentary, no value judgments, no geographic, climatological, or political references, are what they are.

Any inferences, assumptions, and conclusions that you draw from the rankings are entirely your own.

You need not draw any conclusions, intelligent or otherwise.

For millions of Americans, a good education is the ticket to a better future. College opens doors to more career opportunities, higher earnings and new social connections, among other benefits. But how much schooling one receives also matters to some extent. Generally, the higher the level of education one completes, the higher their income potential and the lower their chances of unemployment become.
In this study, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 18 metrics that examined the key factors of a well-educated population: educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races.

Methodology

In order to determine the most and least educated states in America, WalletHub compared the 50 states across two key dimensions, Educational Attainment and Quality of Education.
We examined those dimensions using 18 relevant metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the “most educated.” In certain metrics where women showed an advantage over men and black people over white people, we gave equal credit to the states with no gender/racial inequality. These metrics were marked accordingly with an asterisk (*).
We then determined each state’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and used the resulting scores to rank-order the states...

Bullshit....You liberoidal assholes have been using "studies" like this to pat yourselves on the back for decades....Your sorry ass is nothing new under the sun.

Kind of a spam link. Certainly click bait.

No way I'm clicking through a 50 page slide show. And certainly not registering for a Google account just to see the states all on one list.
