Just because something appears consistent with an explanation does not prove that that is the explanation.

Evolution will always favor function.

What that means is, genetic "operations" are mathematical, formulaic. If you wish to be picky you can do them stochastically to account for noise, and you may discover a few additional dynamics in the process, but really it's not necessary, the shapes of things will be mostly the same.

The first rule of everything from quantum physics to evolution is "there are multiple paths". A required function can be accomplished in many ways, maybe it uses proteins, maybe it uses DNA, who knows. Which particular path is chosen is of little consequence, what matters is that the function gets performed.

For instance - at what point does a cell become "needful" and start hunting for food? Bacteria don't hunt because they don't need much food and they can use almost anything as a source of energy. They just hover over a pile of rocks and they get enough to eat.

It's the specificity that first drives aggression, the need for certain types of nutrients rather than others. Once a cell gets complex enough it will require a steady stream of certain types of nutrients, and anything it can't make it has to eat. If it isn't mobile and can't find food it'll die.

The attractors that drive this stuff are common to all life, no matter where it occurs and no matter which particular pathway it took to get where it is.

The hunting behavior and everything before it (like the transition to non equilibrium thermodynamics) had a mathematical "reason" which ultimately is a property of the numbers themselves.

Better try again. While there are a few unexplained holes in how this species or that got to where they are, the general maxim is sound and was proven conclusively by Alfred Russel Wallace and his Wallace line.

Evolution is simply life's endless experiment to try random variation so that the odds of one combination succeeding in adapting to the environment and life continuing.

Abiogenesis is not a theory, it's a proven and reproducible fact.

Very few things are ever proven in science, as soon as one makes such a claim in fact, they have abandoned science and embraced faith, belief (all proofs rest upon axioms, things presumed).

There are indeed many observations that are consistent with the empirical claims of evolution just as there are many observations that are consistent with Newtonian gravitation.

But there are also observations that are inconsistent with evolution claims, why is that? why are there observations that fly in the face of what we'd expect if evolution were real?
