A militant schoolboy build a canon at school, why no media panic or coverage?

A child builds a clock and some git thinks it looks like a bomb and it's a global story. Meanwhile a kid in olive drab builds a canon (but is white) and no one mentions it whatsoever.

But ya, the clock-kid wasn't racially profiled and the trouble he got into was totally justified. Just like the canon-maker kid and nothing happening over it was also totally justified.

Science fair experiments range from crime to coho

First off, the Muslim kid didn't actually "build" a clock. He simply removed the electrical components from a pre-existing, manufactured clock and transfered them to a homemade casing. Secondly, the "clock" had the appearance of an explosive device, which have been popularised as "IADs" all over the world. Had he pulled this stunt in somewhere like Saudi Arabia, their reaction would be the same and his parents would be collecting what remained of their son from the morgue, not the county lock-up.

Secondly, this White kid (yeah, I said it) hasn't presented or shown what appears to be an easily portable or concealable device to his peers in a classroom. His "canon" clearly isn't armed, and if he were consider unloading it in or at his school, they'd see him coming a mile off before he or his weapon of mass destruction could pose a threat.

He's dressed like one of those RW terror groups and building cannons....oh but white, nevermind...You'll be allowed to shoot up your school with your awesome weapon another time
You with with an AIR gun like the ones used to shoot t-shirts at sporting events?

Remember how upset the Right got over some Florida rule that you can't make a Pop Tart look like a gun?

This clock fiasco is EXACTLY the same thing.

Now imagine how retarded I would sound if I kept insisting the Pop Tart looked like a dangerous gun and that the teachers would be right to call the cops.

That's how obvious NOT a bomb the clock was to everyone involved. They reacted to the clock the exact same way the dipshits reacted to a Pop Tart, knowing full well neither were actually dangerous.

Double standard hypocrites.

Last part--no.
He could inform them is going to shoot it, and it could hurt someone never the last. A little time spent on trig, physics and figuring out ho to incorporate air resistance, and he could easily take out a teacher while staging a freak accident.

I understand Delta's point, but like the people that made a big deal over the "brief case bomb", I call any outrage over this BS, twice so during a science fair.

There are some inherent dangers in a science show and you do need knowledgeable supervisors to watch these kids.

a cannon?....no problem it can only shoot things

A clock? Well, thats obviously the beginning stages of a dangerous nuke

By the way

A science project on how domestic bombs are made could be a science project somewhere. With Rockets, Cannons and so forth, you guys are only chipping at the tip of the dangers here.

Let some genius kid bring in a novel example of genetically manipulating yeast or fungi. You could be looking at a potential dangerous situation without even knowing it.

It's his white privilege. Leave him alone.
