A Marines perspective of the nude photos of Women Marines

I am saying as far as we know they did not care.

Then why are all these outraged female Marines coming forward?

$$$$$$$$$$$
You think you can get rich by complaining about sexual harassment?
. Depends on the finances of the individuals situation. Some people can get an extra thousand dollars in their account, and feel rich if only for a day. Your point was moot.
I assume the typical E3 has a small fortune in his savings account

Then you assume wrong. As a matter of fact, you really don't start making money until you make E5.

I remember being stationed at NAS Memphis from 1986 until 1989, and during that time we noticed that there was a group of female Marines who were running around in designer clothing, as well as had nice cars. The instructors couldn't understand how so many E-3's were living large, so they watched them and set up an investigation.

Turns out they were running a prostitution ring out of the barracks.

No, E-3's don't make much money, and you would be surprised at some of the things I've seen them do to get extra.

In Norfolk, they caught a couple of DK's who were skimming a mere 10 cents off of each account in their payrolls (approx. 5,000 people each) and putting it in a dummy account. They also got caught because they were living larger than their paygrade would normally dictate.

. No, but a thousand dollars might make one think they have a small fortune, yet it all depends on the individual.

There are obviously institutional issues with how service members treat their female counterparts. Sexual Harassment training does not seem to be working. Harsher measures need to be taken to end the "boys will be boys" mentality

Yes, harsh, specific actions need to be taken against service members who abuse females
. Yes.. Separate the services... End of story.
In what way?

Separate females from predatory males?
. Whatever it takes.... Due to political correctness and social engineering run amuck, uh what do you want, otherwise to expose them to predatory males because of political agenda's ?

What I would want is for female military members to be able to continue with their careers without rape, sexual harassment and intimidation

The answer is not to separate those females from the rest of the armed forces but to separate those who can't get used to females in the military after decades of integration

I have no problem with women training with the men but it is foolish to think that hormones will never come into play. Sometimes there is a woman that can keep up with the training although it is rare. What I am afraid of is that the standards of training will be lowered to allow the women to make the cut. I once saw a sign posted at one of the bases that I was stationed and it read: "Never let it be said that any Marine died from lack of training". If standards are lowered then that can not be said and the sign should be removed.
. The women should be trained on a level separate and more conditioned for the female soldier. Men should never be compromised in their training in order to cater to the whims of political correctness or a lowered standard of training in order to accommodate political correctness or be forced to engage in social engineering.

Women are in the Military, they are meeting high standards and achieving high rank
. And are entangled in constant scandal that is weakening the forces. Now it's not to blame them or the men, but more so to blame the set up in which has created the problems.

If that is the case, then they are ruining their careers because of their inability to function as a member of the corps

Scandal that rocked Marine Corps now expands, four branches of military investigating similar claims
Saturday 11th March, 2017 - Merely days after the U.S. Defense Department said it was investigating a report that some Marines shared naked photographs of female Marines, veterans and other women on a secret Facebook page called "Marines United" - four more branches are said to be probing similar claims.
According to reports, U.S. servicemen from all parts of the military have allegedly been sharing nude photos of their female colleagues. Previous reports revealed that some of the images were taken without the consent and knowledge of the women. The particular Facebook page had a 30,000 membership of active-duty and retired male Marines, Navy Corpsman and British Royal Marines. Besides the objectionable photographs, the page had several obscene comments on the women. A Pentagon official on Thursday was quoted in a CNN report as confirming that four branches of the military were looking into the posting of nude photos of what appear to be female service members on various websites.

The official however said that so far, there is no Defense Department-wide investigation. A Business Insider report had previously claimed that said the scandal related to “lewd photos being posted by a group of Marines and former Marines, goes beyond the Corps and some private Facebook groups like Marines United.” Then, a BBC report stated that there were message boards where servicemen from other branches had shared hundreds of photos. The report further noted that a message board on anonymous image hosting website Anon-IB was used by male service members to share nude images of their female counterparts. Explaining the modus operandi, the report said that they first posted clothed photos of female personnel taken from their social media pages, and ask if any members have nude photos. The nude photos were called"wins" and featured lewd comments.

Sometimes, these posts even provided names and other details of women along with where they are stationed. The message boards, reports noted indicate that such practices extend throughout the military. Responding the reports, the Pentagon said in a statement that such behaviour was "inconsistent" with its values. When the scandal broke, Marine Corps top commander Gen. Robert B. Neller did not comment directly on the report, but said, "For anyone to target one of our Marines, online or otherwise, in an inappropriate manner, is distasteful and shows an absence of respect." He also said, “When I hear allegations of marines denigrating their fellow marines, I don't think such behaviour is that of true warriors or war fighters.”

The Facebook page was first discovered by The War Horse, a non-profit news organization managed by Marine veteran Thomas Brennan, and the investigation was first reported on Saturday by the Center for Investigative Reporting. One of the women whose photos were posted - Marine Lance Cpl. Marisa Woytek told The Post that photos were taken from her Instagram account and posted to Marines United multiple times in the past six months, without her consent. “Even if I could, I’m never re-enlisting,” Woytek said. “Being sexually harassed online ruined the Marine Corps for me, and the experience.” Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Ryan E. Alvis said, commenting on the report, said, "We are thankful that Thomas Brennan, a Marine veteran, notified the Marine Corps and NCIS about what he witnessed on the ‘Marines United' page." "It allowed us to take immediate action to have the explicit photos taken down and to prepare to support potential victims."

In modern times, everyone can have their fifteen minutes of fame.

Porn is free on the Internet; and, I practice not judging women by the clothes they don't wear, all the time, not only for practice, but also for fun.

. No one is suggesting that the women leave the military, but rather to re-arrange the military to make it work for all, and to stop these dam problems. If that means we need to separate the forces again, then so be it.
