America needs to keep some basic image in the world. We would like to think that we can solve any problem, and letting go of the leash inherently means losing control.America is insisting that the war continue ?--are we profitting from it ?
Look at Turkey condemning terrorism in its own country!
Attack at the US Consulate in Turkey leaves 6 dead - The Boston Globe
It's ok for Christians to fight Muslims and Muslims to fight Muslims, but not Jews to fight Muslims???
Which is how Israel balks.
Damn them, how dare they want the missiles to stop falling, BEFORE they discuss the checkpoints.
Because they are playing with American taxpayer money--that's why.
So, we should remove border guards at Mexico/Canadian borders because we owe gagillions to China?
Seriously, whatever we 'give', 'loan', 'lease', 'sell' to Israel doesn't negate their duty to protect their citizens, which is what you are arguing.
How many months have they sat there watching rockets fall. If there is something lined up with the Eu and turks or whoever, the US outta push for it. MAybe we would nt be so in debt to China if we weren't buying the whole fucking mideast.
Perhaps. Have you written your representatives? In any case, Israel is willing to make 'peace' with the minimum of demands, not so Hamas. It's already noted that Sarkozy left out Hamas, both Israel and PA have agreed in general terms.
Fatah has no authority in Gaza. If that's true what you say, then "French"-initiative is doomed to fail. Because Hamas is the actor heveing to be involved in a short-term solution regarding Gaza. French-initiative is also more of a jumping in rather then initiateing something.
Not if this is successful. Here's to hoping!
PA is Fatah. Fatah has no weight to influence Hamas.
Fatah is already for a while in peace-mode regarding Israel. So it is no big issue reaching a "cease-fire" deal between Fatah and Israel as they do actually not shoot at each other anyway at this moment. The parties involved are Israel and Hamas. Hamas and Fatah being theirselves in de-facto war at each other.
You want a solution the formula involves Hamas. It is like wanting to direct humanitarian aid to Darfur, but some guy behind a desk directed it humanitarian aid to Eritrea.

If the people don't turn on Hamas, hopefully there won't be any people left.Apparently Israel is hoping for the people to turn on Hamas.
Hamas will never make peace.

Only a minority of US taxpayers are unhappy with our support of Israel or with Israel's policies, so that is not a reason.
It's growing as our economy plunges---I hate to see people bring shit on themselves.
I don't think so. The aid we give to Israel is in the form of military credits to buy hardware from US companies, and creates US jobs and taxes and that help support the states and regions where those companies are. The major effect of this kind of aid is a wealth transfer from the federal government to the states and localities, which is the essence of the economic stimulus package Obama has promised and which the American people are supporting, so our present economic difficulties, if anything, would indicate that we should continue the aid so that the people who work for these companies don't lose their jobs and the states and localities where they are don't lose the wages, salaries and taxes these military credits generate.
