The US ranks about 49th globally in life expectancy, and forecasts predict the ranking will drop to 66th by 2050, according to a December 2024 IHME analysis in the New York Post. Compared to other wealthy countries, the US's performance is even lower. For example, in 2022, it ranked 32nd among 38 OECD countries, according to America's Health Rankings.

AI Overview

The infant mortality rate (IMR) in the United States is higher than in many other developed countries. This is due to a complex interplay of factors, including:

Healthcare Access and Quality:

  • The US has a fragmented healthcare system with limited access for low-income families and racial minorities.
  • Prenatal care and early childhood health screenings are often inadequate, leading to preventable health problems.

Policy and System-Level Factors:

    • The US healthcare system is not designed to prioritize infant health and prevention.
    • There is a lack of national policies and programs to address the root causes of high infant mortality rates.

    • US Has Highest Infant, Maternal Mortality Rates Despite the Most Health Care Spending

The United States possesses the highest infant and maternal mortality rates compared with any other high-income country, even though it spends the most on health care.
The United States has the highest infant and maternal mortality rates out of any other high-income country and simultaneously spends the most on health care, according to a report released Tuesday by the Commonwealth Fund.

The report evaluated US health spending, outcomes, status, and service use compared with Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. In addition, US health system efficiency was compared with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average of the 38 high-income countries that had available data from December 2022.

Of all countries in 2020, the United States possessed the highest infant mortality rate at 5.4 deaths per 1000 live births, which is markedly higher than the 1.6 deaths per 1000 live births in Norway, which has the the lowest mortality rate.

US maternal mortality in 2020 was over 3 times the rate in most of the other high-income countries, with almost 24 (23.8) maternal deaths for every 100,000 live births.

More Americans need to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Too much junk food, drugs, alcohol and a sedentary life is a recipe for disaster.

Freedom/liberty and a MASSIVE population of careless brown and black people.

Pretty scary stuff here. Not only do 62% of young people have a favorable view of Socialism, but 34% have a favorable view of Communism. This is just more proof that our education system has gone off the rails. I contend that is due to enemy influence, but that is another discussion.

When will mature, adult Democrats, if there are any left, realize that they need to reign in the far-left of their party to prevent this type of uninformed, ignorant thinking? Are all Democrats so lost in the wilderness that they are unable to see the danger their current party poses to this Republic? The financial hub of our country is getting ready to elect a professed Democratic Socialist, in large part due to the young (and non-native born) population in that city. He will fail miserably. Maybe that will be a walk-up call, but I’m not so sure that will be enough wake people up.

And as they keep having abortions and sterilizing children, they get closer and closer to extinction.

The main problem is that we have a crummy health system and pay more for it than countries with socialized medicine.
We have too many bottom feeders who don’t contribute….50% of the population pays no income tax. Then we have 40-50 million blood sucking illegal aliens and all their offspring leeching on the American taxpayer ….That’s the real problem.

Like I have said many times before. I can pick out bad things about every state in the country. That doesn’t mean that every state in the country is a bad place to live. NYC is responsible for many billions is revenue, but living there would be a horrible step down for me. Much smaller and older home. Loud, crowded, terrible weather. Yeah, it’s neat if you like to go the Museum of a play every weekend

I know, man, Culture is scary to you.

but I have much more varied interest that involve outdoor activities, including the ability to drive my cars.

Funny, I can drive my car wherever I want.

Anyway, the point is that these young people aren’t likely tethered to these places. They can move and live better. They make a choice. Now they complain that Capitalism isn’t working because they see extremely wealthy people living much better than them. They simply don’t realize that they can live much better than they are elsewhere in the same country.

Or they can vote to change things. Oh, wait, that's what they are doing.

The Europeans rely on us for protection. Many also have plenty of debt, like France. These countries wouldn’t be doing just fine if the US stopped funding their protection. They spend their paychecks on wine and cheese and want us to pay the light bill. No wonder you lefties love Europe so much.

Um, we have huge debt. And protection from who, Russia, those guys can barely beat Ukraine in a fight.

Fix it by allowing anyone to just come in as they please? I would be fine if we “fixed” it by giving them work visas, but giving them zero government benefits, including the ability to vote in local elections. If their employers want to offer them benefits, that’s fine. The problem is, leftist cities can’t help themselves and the burden will fall on the tax payers, just as it does now.

Immigrants can't get benefits. Stop spreading that lie.

Here's how we fix the immigration system, you establish a guest worker program, which takes care of the labor needs, and then you go after the white people who hire folks off the books.

No, his policies are not damaging our country.

They aren't? Hey, Amazon is laying off 12,000 people. Kroger is laying off 10,000 people. UPS is laying off 48000.

Mamdami’s proposals will cause much harm to NYC. They will be looking for a bailout from dfederal taxpayers. If a Democrat gets elected President, he/she will bail them out and off we go as the precedent will be set and Socialism here we come.

I guess. Given New York sends far more to DC than it gets back, I just don't see a problem here.

SNAP wasn’t up for negotiation. That funding has stopped because Democrats won’t vote for the CR to keep the government opened. As for the enhanced subsidies, sorry, but that is part of a budget negotional. Just because you and Democrats feel that heavily subsidized healthcare and providing healthcare to anyone that walks across our border is a right, doesn’t make it so.

Bullshit. We've had shutdowns before and funding SNAP or Social Security or whatever was never an issue.

Funny, my kids don’t have that outlook at all, in fact, quite the opposite. They see the hard work that their mother and I have put in and the fruits of our hard work. My wife came into this country will nothing. She worked hard and is now successful. She would not have had that same opportunity, despite her hard work, in the country from which she left.

Ah, this would be one of those unnamed countries kind of like your unnamed state. You make these grandiose statements, but then never really back them up with anything.

America is still the land of opportunity, but it does require hard work. Many of these young people aren’t willing to do so, thus why Socialism is so appealing to them. My wife and her family are astounded at just how gullible these young people can and how easily they can be led to fall into the trap.

Or... they watched their parents in the rat race their whole lives, missing their school recitals because one of them had to work the second job.

We wouldn’t have nearly the problem if Biden had enforced the law. He didn’t care. Now Trump is left with his mess to clean up. Typical of Democrats…they leave a mess everywhere they go.

Biden deported more people than Trump did. The problem was that more people were coming during that surge in 2023.

By the time Biden left, border crossing were down from 200,000 in Dec. 2023 to 24,000 in January 2025.

Now, Biden did a very bad job of articulating his position, probably because his brain was turning into pudding. Compare that to Trump who just straight up lied about people eating cats.

This has nothing to do with health care, if it's even true, it has to do with Americans being fat.

Another great reminder that

1. public education is left wing homo controlled indoctrination
2. the solution is private school vouchers
3. everyone who opposes private school vouchers (W, Huck, Spencer Cox) is 100% anti conservative

Education should be free of partisan indoctrination, especially the toxic ideologies of the left. Zero reasons why “educators” should be involved in the development of our children’s sexual identities.

I know, man, Culture is scary to you.

I didn’t say that. There are many other things in addition to “culture” that interest me that are no readily available in big cities.

Funny, I can drive my car wherever I want.

Neat, many can’t in NYC because they don’t have cars. There is nowhere to park them, unless you are ultra-wealthy or don’t mind parking your car on the street to get torn to pieces.

Or they can vote to change things. Oh, wait, that's what they are doing.

Sure they can vote to change things alright. They just have this pie in the sky, childish idea that they can get a lot of stuff for free by taking it from those that made it. Kind of like you.

Um, we have huge debt. And protection from who, Russia, those guys can barely beat Ukraine in a fight.

Yeah, Russia. Many Western European countries couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag.

Immigrants can't get benefits. Stop spreading that lie.

Complete lie. Immigrants can walk across the border directly into an ER, have a baby and get benefits for the baby and themselves without paying a penny. The parents can apply for all benefits(welfare, snap, etc.) on behalf of their child. Obviously they get the money to raise the child. Just another reason why birthright citizenship should be revisited and revoked going forward. It makes no sense and encourages people to enter our country legally and illegally to gain a benefit on our dime.

In addition, many sancturary cities provide city sponsered, free health services, housing, drivers licenses and IDS and even legal help. You don’t think that is a draw for someone coming from a poor country?

You have been duped…again.

They aren't? Hey, Amazon is laying off 12,000 people. Kroger is laying off 10,000 people. UPS is laying off 48000.

Nope, not Trump. Get ready for it. AI is going to be responsible for a lot of job losses in the future. You should love it. We can all get UBI, live in government apartments eating government cheese and watching TV all day long. It’s a non-wealthy Democrat’s dream.

I guess. Given New York sends far more to DC than it gets back, I just don't see a problem here.

You shall see.

Bullshit. We've had shutdowns before and funding SNAP or Social Security or whatever was never an issue.

That’s because the shutdown had gone longer than most. All Democrats had to do was sign the CR weeks ago. Nothing would have been shutdown and they would be negotiating some of the kooky ideas of the Democrats. In addition to keeping COVID era subsidies, Democrats also want to restore funding for PBS. Yeah, that is such a crisis. They are political hacks and they have tricked people like you into believing that that care about people losing their benefits. They couldn’t care less. They just hope the shutdown hurts Trump. It is all political to them. All of it.

Ah, this would be one of those unnamed countries kind of like your unnamed state. You make these grandiose statements, but then never really back them up with anything.

I don’t need to name specifics because it happens all the time. A person coming from a Communist country to the US to escape is highly unlikely to be a Democrat. Why on earth would they vote for a party that supports Socialism? Most aren’t all as dumb as Democrats escaping blue states for red states but continuing to vote blue. That takes a special kind of stupid.

Or... they watched their parents in the rat race their whole lives, missing their school recitals because one of them had to work the second job.

Right, except that many of these kids protesting don’t have that experience. Rich kids at Harvard, Columbia, etc. have been fully indoctrinated into believing that everything is so horrible. They will change their tune very quickly once they realize that their lifestyle may be negatively affected. Currently, they vote on theory. They don’t have an understanding of how it works in practice.

The problem was that more people were coming during that surge in 2023.

Now, ask them to name some socialist countries.

You're talking about people too young to have overcome the worst 'education' system in the modern world. The more they grow, the more distance they put between themselves and the worst ed system in modern societies, the more intelligent they became.

If you want to know how bad our Ed system is -- Look at the Teachers. I worked with every segment of society in my 40-year work history and Teachers were the dumbest of the bunch. Not uneducated -- Thick. Dumb. Uncomprehending.

Get it now?

Neat, many can’t in NYC because they don’t have cars. There is nowhere to park them, unless you are ultra-wealthy or don’t mind parking your car on the street to get torn to pieces.

Only 13,000 cars were stolen in NYC last year (and most of those were recovered.) out of 2 million registered cars in NYC. So, a less than 1% of your car being stolen.

Sure they can vote to change things alright. They just have this pie in the sky, childish idea that they can get a lot of stuff for free by taking it from those that made it. Kind of like you.

Works on the assumption the rich "make" anything. America was far more productive when we didn't have Billionaires.

The Billionaire is a parasite who has convinced you he's a vital organ.

Yeah, Russia. Many Western European countries couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag.

And we can? We got rolled by two broken, third-world countries, despite the Trillions we've lavished on the Military-Industrial Complex.

Okay, dude, now you are the one who is lying.

the CITIZEN child can get benefits, the immigrant parents cannot. (The whole issue is overblown, there just aren't that many anchor babies.)

As for the ER situation- um, yeah, that happens because we don't have universal health care, and ER's have to treat people for free who could have just gone to a GP for a fraction of the cost.

In addition, many sancturary cities provide city sponsered, free health services, housing, drivers licenses and IDS and even legal help. You don’t think that is a draw for someone coming from a poor country?

Okay, but that's not the federal government.

The draw for them is that there are shitty jobs Americans don't want to do.

Nope, not Trump. Get ready for it. AI is going to be responsible for a lot of job losses in the future. You should love it. We can all get UBI, live in government apartments eating government cheese and watching TV all day long. It’s a non-wealthy Democrat’s dream.

Yup, the greed of the one percent is making all our lives miserable.

Trump's economy sucks. I see you are already looking for other people to blame when the mob turns on Cheeto Hitler.

That’s because the shutdown had gone longer than most. All Democrats had to do was sign the CR weeks ago. So someone comes from a nameless communist country and moves to a nameless red state, and I'm supposed to take you at your word?

People aren't escaping blue states, they are being forced there because that's where the Billionaire class is moving the jobs. But, whoops, people are actually keeping their sense of right and wrong.

Really? Frankly, I'm old enough to remember what America looked like before Republicans demolished the middle class.

My dad could afford a decent home, raise five kids, and even own a vacation property on a working man's salary.

Even with a better than average job, I couldn't afford to do that today.

And when these kids hear how Grandpa could do these things, and they can't, they'll vote for socialism.

Better get ready to sing, *****.

Why do you think that was? You don’t think it was because they knew they could just walk across our border do you? Many were wearing Biden shirts. It is hilarious how uninformed you are.

They crossed the border after they realized that "Stay In Mexico" was a lie. You leave that part out, that Trump lied to Mexico and the immigrants that if they stayed on the Mexican side of the border, we'd process their asylum applications. We didn't.

The place where it went south was immigrants have learned about the asylum loophole, but we never put the resources to resolve those cases, so people were in limbo for years waiting for their cases to get decided.

Cool, now let's do a poll of 18-29 year old's that have actually lived under socialism, we can start in Venezuela and see how it's working out for those young people.🧐

It's all fun & games until the "dream" becomes a reality and the nightmares kick in.
