62% of 18-29 Year Olds Have a Favorable View of Socialism

I read a political thinker for insight, rather than doctrine. My study of the writings of Karl Marx included a fascinating seminar on Das Kapital given by a brilliant member of the American Communist Party. I believe that Marx had two valid insights and that he was mistaken about everything else.

One can only say that socialism "has never worked" if one fails to distinguish between Communism and democratic socialism.

The closest approximation to democratic socialism that has worked is social democracy. Socialized medicine gets better results with less money than American health care.

Also, Communism enabled the Soviet Union to industrialize rapidly enough to produce the weapons that enabled the Soviet Union to defeat the Nazi invasion. The vast majority of German casualties were on the Russian front.

Communism enabled Communist China to produce the best consumer goods at the lowest prices. The keyboard I am using to type these words, the screen I read them on, my mouse, and my personal computer were all made in Communist China. They were reasonably priced. They work fine.
Not communism, totalitarian. Any tyranny could produce those results. The USSR under Stalin and the PRC under Mao were just run of the mill dictatorships run to benefit those at the top without the consent or to the benefit of those at the bottom. Communism was just the religion they used to pacify the masses.

Pretty scary stuff here. Not only do 62% of young people have a favorable view of Socialism, but 34% have a favorable view of Communism. This is just more proof that our education system has gone off the rails. I contend that is due to enemy influence, but that is another discussion.

When will mature, adult Democrats, if there are any left, realize that they need to reign in the far-left of their party to prevent this type of uninformed, ignorant thinking? Are all Democrats so lost in the wilderness that they are unable to see the danger their current party poses to this Republic? The financial hub of our country is getting ready to elect a professed Democratic Socialist, in large part due to the young (and non-native born) population in that city. He will fail miserably. Maybe that will be a walk-up call, but I’m not so sure that will be enough wake people up.

On paper it's great, but it assumes people will continue to work harder after they realize it doesn't benefit themselves to bother.

Conservatives have done a really terrible job explaining why socialism is bad.

To be honest, it seems like you guys don’t actually know what it is or which policies are socialist.

“Socialism” is just something you guys mindlessly shout at with anything that is “bad”.

Democrats are socialists! When the fast food restaurant gets my order wrong it’s because they’re socialists! When you hit your foot on the kitchen table, it’s because the table is a socialist! The word has lost all meaning.

Meanwhile, with all of those rising costs, these 18-29 year-olds are facing the reality of how difficult it is to make it in life with the deck stacked against them.

So explain what the issue is for them to understand. Which socialist policies do you have an issue with and why should they favor your side on those policies?

I believe it never passed so.........

Yes, it did pass. Trump capped the deduction at 10k during his first term. That cap was increased to 40k in the Big Beautiful Bill because the Democrats(and a few Republicans) wouldn't agree with out it.

Trump says he is for it also. Though granted, Trump says a lot of things.

Trump was for the 40k cap because he felt that was a fair compromise. The Democrats wanted the cap removed all together.

Right, but these people base their policies on theory, not reality. That is why so many in academia are liberal. They only know theory. Most of them have never been in the "real world". They have been an an academic setting their entire lives. It's just to bad that so many non-academics, who are in the real world, put the musings of these academics above reality.

Democrats never passed anything despite some wanting it.

Some did and I condemned them.

How's this for a graphic explanation:

"Over the past 100 years the most oppressive ideology in the world has been communism [Marxism]. While the people who lived under it were starved, tortured and murdered, its leaders lived in luxury.
The suppression of ordinary people by their communist rulers far surpasses anything capitalist employers were ever accused of doing. While condemning exploitation, communist dictators turned out to be masters at it.

a. R.J. Rummel estimates that almost 170 million people were killed in the 20th century by their own governments. These are not deaths in war. They are the victims of genocide by the governments in the countries where they lived. Hate on the Left

If that was too hard for you, how about this?

How about something more current? What socialist policies are Democrats pushing today that will lead to people being starved, murdered and tortured?

Again you fail to distinguish between Communism and democratic socialism. Under democratic socialism the rich are taxed heavily to pay for free stuff for most Americans.

That was before your Crypt Keeper and the kinda black Indian lady let in 12-15 million more parasites.
I’d bet PoliticalChic is closer in her estimate here. https://www.usmessageboard.com/threads/100-million-illegall-invaders-living-here.1130752/
100 million undocumented migrants is the US? :auiqs.jpg:

"The United States is the most populous country in the Americas and the Western Hemisphere, with a projected population of 342,034,432 on July 1, 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau."

As one who has studied history, among other things, I find it like fingernails on a blackboard when someone discounts history....in fact a history writ large in blood.

Which documented socialist, Nazi, Bolshevik regime do you hold close to your heart? Name it.

Just to see how close I am to accurately understanding you, tell me...would I be correct that you are a government school grad?

There will always be ignorant, immature individuals who will not look at the history every socialist-communist regime, and realize that the "bait" (democratic socialism) always results in the heavy, blood soaked entity that eliminates those who disagree with the comrade in charge......and under Democrats it is done with regulation and taxation until the become strong enough to do it the "traditional" way.

Folks like you who who envy others and would vote for a government that would take from folks who earned it and give it to you.....and you can pretend you only want a peaceful way of stealing.

The best approximation of democratic socialism that has worked is Scandinavian Social Democracy. There is no chance of a Communist dictatorship in any Scandinavian country.

When Communism has not been imposed by the Soviet Army it has emerged as a popular uprising against a capitalist dictatorship that was not benefiting most of the people.

And has failed miserably to benefit anyone except the "socialists" at the top of the government.

You really have a problem with learning, huh?

“Speaking at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Danish PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen told students that he had “absolutely no wish to interfere the presidential debate in the US” but nonetheless attempted to set the record straight about his country.

"I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy,” Rasmussen said.

“The Nordic model is an expanded welfare state which provides a high level of security for its citizens, but it is also a successful market economy with much freedom to pursue your dreams and live your life as you wish,” he added.

The PM’s comments come after US presidential hopefuls Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton used part of the first Democratic debate to discuss how the United States could emulate Scandinavia.” Danish PM in US: Denmark is not socialist

Capitalism makes countries wealthy…..socialism redistributes wealth, shutting down industry in the process.

“The Left’s concept of materialism broadens into the overarching desire to see every individual materially equal. The Left is less interested in creating wealth than in distributing it, and has been far more interested in fighting material inequality than tyranny, which is why Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Castro, etc., tend to have the support of Leftists around the world.”
Dennis Prager

Nordic countries have high levels of social services, but this is paid for by exorbitant tax rates. Denmark has a 63% tax rate, plus a 25% sales tax.

And….a 5.5% decline in GDP in the decade.

“The welfare state we have is excellent in most ways,” says Gunnar Viby Mogensen, a Danish historian. “We only have this little problem. We can’t afford it.”
