The total workers age 16 or older paid at minimum or below minimum hourly wage : 3,300,000

THAT's ALL worker at minimum or below!

Supposedly heads of family 25 years and older: 1,638,000

1,663,000 are 16 to 19 years old.. probably live with parents.. working dishwasher,etc..
111,000 are 65 and older (NOTE they get Medicare and social security)
1,774,000 people under 19 living with parents and 65 or over getting Medicare/SS.

Over 54% of the 3,300,000 TOTAL people that work for minimum or below minimum wage are 16 to 19 or over 65 live with parents or get govt. assistance.

So you have half the 3.3 million at minimum wage either at entry level jobs or skill appropriate 16 to 19 years old or over 65.

Raising the minimum wage for JUST 3.3 million WILL affect all workers by:
1) Some of those 3.3 million WILL be let go.
2) All the rest of above minimum wage will be asked to produce more or
3) more robots employed.
4) Raising the minimum wage is totally unfair to the other 72 million hourly wage workers.

The net effect will be businesses will have less money to hire more people and will instead let people go to make up the difference.

Why are companies employing them now if they can get along without them? That's what you're claiming by saying that the companies will just eliminate the job if they have to pay an extra 8 bucks a day or so to employ them.

Companies are already trying to eliminate as many minimum wage workers as they can with automation. Keeping the minimum wage low is not going to save those people's jobs.

We might as well at least get decent wages for the jobs that are left.

Oh I see, so more people making peanuts and getting government assistance is better than fewer people making an actual sustainable wage. Got it.

A) Current minimum wage is $7.25 PLUS the employer pays additional 7.6% for SS/Medicare or total per hour of $7.80 ...not $7.25.
B) Obama wants Federal minimum raised to $10.10 which is REALLY (7.6% Employer's SS/Medicare share) $10.87 not $10.10.
C) 8 hours a day at $3.06 MORE per hour if raised to $10.86 is $24.54 per day ... NOT an extra "8 bucks a day" as again ignorant people seem to think!
D) So answering question"Why are companies employing them now" because they can afford them. BUT
E) In the case of dishwashers/janitors/waiters.. It now becomes economics at an additional $24.54/day... BECAUSE
F) The employers using manual "dishwashers/janitors/waiters..." NOW can employ robotics.
1) Dishwashing equipment that can replace one manual dishwasher
a) cost one time $6,000 for automated dishwasher or in 68 days employer recovers cost of dishwasher employee https://shopping.yahoo.com/commercial-dishwashers/
2) Janitors replaced with robot floor sweepers.. hospital for example:
Cost for robot janitor "$20,000 in 229 days at $86.98 savings per day replace the cost of manual janitor...

Based on a 2013 paper by Carl Benedikt Frey and Michael A. Osborne of Oxford, occupations in the U.S. that pay at or near the minimum wage — that’s about one of every six workers in the U.S. — are much more susceptible to “computerization,” or as defined by the authors, “job automation by means of computer-controlled equipment.” The researchers considered a time frame of 20 years, and they measured whether such jobs could be computerized, not whether these jobs will be computerized. The latter involves assumptions about economic feasibility and social acceptance that go beyond mere technology.

So rather then keeping 3 million people gainfully employed most at entry level jobs the "compassionate" "raise minimum" economic idiots will be putting more
people out of work!

For 3 million people who are mostly learning their daily business skills.."getting to work on time".. "being at work..not absentee".. "communicating with others",etc.
these are all fundamental job skills necessary to be hired at higher wages.
Employers don't need to hire dishwashers/janitors and do job training... hire robots!

are you rebutting your own links that show a majority of the min wage earners are adults?

Answer: Yes, when you pretend that MOST of the people are learning daily business skills.

Where is that in your report?

Answer: Its not, you made it up. And whats better than a made up narrative huh?

In other words...

Taxpayers who shop and at Wallmart also subsidize their labor costs.

More the half 1.663 million 16 to 19 year olds....certainly are NOT highly skilled people by the FACT they are paid minimum wage dummy!

The 111,000 over 65 have all the job skills are just and one guy I talked to was bored being retired!
Most of those 111,000 are in that category ... and of course THAT is MY OPINION... just as it was your grossly uninformed opinion regarding how many people
were minimum wage... you and other idiots falling for that "compassionate" minimum wage crap... are actually causing these people to NO longer
be affordable! I.e. getting robots...!

Wal-Mart is the nation's largest private employer and Wal-Mart profits billions every three months. Wal-Mart can afford to pay their workers more.

When the Minimum Wage is increased, historically there is a "ripple effect" on most wage earners.
Considering the wage growth have been flat for over three decades, working Americans need any raise they can get.
There is no doubt that the Middle Class and the working poor are in one of their weakest financial positions during an era of no economic downturn during modern history.
Over 70% of Americans favor raising the Minimum wage. Over 60% were in favored of the legislation for equal pay for women. Yet one particular party appears not to give a shit what Americans in general think. Americans simply want fair pay for a fair days work,,,,but then that might cut into what the stockholders get. Many corporations and stockholders are more than willing to ride on the backs of the working class to attain their wealth, while nopt rewarding those who helped them attain their wealth.
Canada recently passed the US as having the Number One best paid Middle Class. Other wealthy nation's Middle Class have seen bigger gains in the income than the American working class. These same countries have a more stable economy.
This makes sense when capitalist countries rely so heavily on consumer spending. When the consumer class has more expendable income the economy grows (see other wealthy nations). Now look at the US, still floundering because the consumer isn't able to contribute to the economy.
Why are some people against doing anything that would stabilize the US economy?
Has America taken so many steps backwards that America has gone back to a feudal society?

You hurt your own case when you insert shit like this into the numbers

Okay, so eventually all the jobs that are low to moderate skill level positions in this country will be either

shipped overseas,

eliminated by automation/technology,

or pay an unliveably low wage.

So at that point conservatives will have fulfilled their wishes. My question is, what will be so great about an America in that condition?

Exactly!

31% of all 18 -34 year olds live with their parents....

You Won't Believe How Many 18-to-34-Year-Olds Live With Their Parents

1). Who cares how many 18 to 34 year olds live with their parents? Why is it bad or good? To me it is another non issue. If you want to live with your parents until you are 50, not get married, not have kids, then that is not a bad thing.

2). I have zero problem with an adult working 40 hours per week for minimum wage getting gov't assistance. At least they are working. How can one view it any other way?

healthmyth's character for integrity is very questionable, at best.
