Wanna bet that the majority of those in red states that gets SNAP are Democrats? I know they are in my red state. We don't have enough tax revenue from super high earners on the top end like they do in states with very large cities to offset the low income dependent Democrats. That is the reason many red states take more than they give. It is, by and large, Democrats in red states.

Maybe I am a bit sheltered from seeing this. I don’t live in a large urban area. I live in a red Southern state in a more affluent area. We do have a food kitchen downtown, but it isn’t overly busy. We don’t have a large homeless population, just some transients who hold up signs on a few street corners. People in my area can be fed if they want to be fed. People can find work in my area if they are willing and able to do so.

Just because you are walled off from the real world, doesn't mean their ain't millions of citizens struggling just to survive. Since covid my family farm has been getting the lowest prices for crops in 20 years, but food prices at the stores remain at all time highs & keep climbing.

Cargill, JBS, National Beef Packing Company & Tyson have been making record profits & getting more subsidies & tax cuts while everyone else suffers. McDonalds filed price fixing lawsuit against those 4 food companies. Cargill recently settled paying McDonalds over $85 million. Poor people can't force these thugs to pay or feed them. That's government's job to prevent corporate oligarch thugs from starving the working poor, but instead they have been rewarding those very companies.
