Well the argument I make is that the only way you're going to cut out the waste is to cut funding. It sucks we're at that point, but when it comes to the government it's really easy to expand and infinitely difficult to contract. Some people would rather have the businesses keep those tax $'s as they will usually do something with it that will directly impact the community in a positive way vs. shipping it to an overblown, bureaucratic Fed Gov't that spends $650,000,00 on a website that doesn't work and $90,000,000 on accenture to fix it, lol.

Liberals are socialists/communists

Agree, but I think the size of our Federal Government, and the level of control it has on businesses/people is becoming concerning. What's also concerning is that many Americans are perfectly OK with this. We need to get better at taking care of ourselves, and not always relying on the Gov't to come ot the rescue. The government ISN'T the solution for everything in our lives.

The wealthy are not too wealthy.

Start by working to end crony capitalism, that will help. But many of the "solutions" proposed by left-leaning people will do more damage than good (ie increase taxes, more regulations, etc).

What happens if the government tells McDonalds that they need to pay each employee $15, and as a response McDonalds lays off 1/3 of it's workforce and replaces them with machines to save money?

Or what happens if the government forces a company to pay all their factory workers $15, and can no longer sell the product at a competitive price and the company goes out of business, or moves to China?

Are the workers who are laid off "richer" in either of those scenarios? We must consider all sides of the argument here..

government policy requires all money for each department is spent right down to the last penny. If not, the department not using 100% of funding will have its budget reduced by the amount left over.
In government, nothing is ever saved for a rainy day.
Because most governments create budgets for the next fiscal year it is imperative the numbers for the next year's projected revenue be available.
Now here's the problem, if revenue falls short of projections, a budget deficit is created.
Then government must borrow to make up the immediate shortfall which in turn created even more debt. The system is broken. In fact it never worked correctly in the first place.
Now if government were operated like a business, there would first be an incentive to find ways to reduce expenses. Items such as consumables would be stockpiled and saved for instances where excess would be needed. Instead of going through multiple levels of purchasing procedures say if an office computer craps out, someone could simply order a new computer from an online seller of course after finding one at the lowest price possible.
A few years ago when the Chicago Air Traffic Center's computer system went down one supervisor anonymously quoted that he could go to a computer store and buy a desk top that had more computing power than the old mainframe they had at the center.
But of course the federal government does not work like that. Logic and reason are prohibited in government. That might cost workers their jobs.

Easy.....for most of Bush's tenure the unemployment was minimal. Between 4-5%, of those 4-5% would be the people who weren't going to work for whatever reason. So basically the US was nearly at full employment. It wasn't until the democrats took over the Senate and Congress did unemployment start to rise in 2007.
