2016 USMB Presidential Straw Poll for Conservatives

If today were the primary, who would you choose?

  • Total voters
    36
  • Poll closed .
If it's "business as usual" where we have "evil" and a "lesser evil" then I won't waste my time voting. If we're fortunate enough to have a strong, conservative candidate with a Tea Party mentality then I will vote for him.

The candidate must be dedicated to fulfilling the following goals:

1) Sealing and protecting the southern (and northern for that matter) border.
2) Treat illegal aliens like the criminals they are and push for stiff penalties for breaking our immigration laws.
3) Allow for full scale oil exploration and extraction right here in America thus reducing our dependence on foreign oil while creating much needed jobs (good jobs).
4) Stop taxing and spending.
5) Strengthen our military and invest in modern, defense technology.
6) Vastly reduce Americans' dependency on government handouts by using that tax money to train the freeloaders to do something productive. "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day -- teach him to fish and he can eat for a lifetime."
7) Even the playing field where international trade is concerned making it possible for American manufacturers to prosper like China is able to (under our current trade laws).
8) In general, clean up America's backyard before worrying about the rest of the world's dirty laundry.

If the "conservative" candidate is just another RINO then why bother?

The only caveat that I might add to your list is stiff penalties for any business that hires illegal aliens. $50,000 for the first offense (for each illegal) $100,000 for the second offense and forfeiture of the business for the third offense.

Show me THAT candidate and I'm all in :D

Sarah Palin or
Phil Robinson
Or both as a ticket.

I have only one thing to say to you.....

LOL. Unfortunately, we're probably the only two individuals in America who think that way ... sad to say. :(:eusa_whistle: We'll probably end up with a Romney or a McCain or a Graham or a Powell or a Gingrich.

I can totally agree with that. I always think of 10 other things I should have added two hours from now. :D

Potential 2016 Republican Presidential Candidate
Who is Justin Amash?

U.S. Representative from Michigan
Justin Amash Strongest Libertarian Conservative voice in Congress.. (A name you will most likely be hearing more of soon)

Justin Amash
Born: April 18th, 1980 (age 34)
Justin Amash

Riding on the Tea Party wave of 2010 and the support of former Texas Congressman Ron Paul, libertarian-Republican Rep. Justin Amash was elected to the House after winning the district once held by former president Gerald Ford by soundly defeating Democratic challenger Pat Miles, 59.7% - 37.5%.

Rep. Amash, whose first working gig was as a manager in his family’s industrial tools company, rose to prominence during Paul’s unsuccessful bid for president in 2008, the same year he was elected to the lower House of Michigan Legislature.

The father of three is a staunch advocate of smaller government, individual freedom and fiscal discipline. He has consistently voted along his stated principles, and makes no apology about voting against the party line.

One of the strongest campaigners of recent years, the former lawyer’s unofficial role as the spokesman of the conservative libertarian wing in Congress is likely to keep him in the media spotlight for the foreseeable future.

In the list, I voted for Rick Perry. While he isn't the best speaker he has done great in Texas.

Too early, but that's my vote in this poll.

A lot of people like Trey Gowdy.. I don't know if he's going to make a run..

Gary Johnson, failiing that, I would give Amash a look.

I chose Amash.. He's brilliant and answers to no one but his constituents. He represents true Conservatism in my opinion.

Brewster for President!!!!

Unfortunately, you are probably right. The idea of an actual MAN or WOMAN standing up and doing what is right for the COUNTRY is as foreign to modern politicians (on both sides) as stating your beliefs, clearly and succinctly.

Just doesn't happen any longer. Hell, seen a political ad lately? They won't even list their party affiliation any longer.

Is the only viable R candidate.

Oh YEAH!!! I forgot about her! She would, indeed, make a great candidate. She speaks her mind, though. Probably wouldn't stand a chance for that reason alone.
