$2 Billion Dollar Lottery Winner (Castro) loses $25 Million Dollar house in California Wildfire..

Okay that is the picture with the story. I thought that house surely could not cost $25 Million
Yeah, it's kind of a dump by Malibu standards.

Thing is for the owner, it's not a bad thing. You could never build there today, but he can take his insurance payout and add a couple million and rebuild something 10x as nice.

Edwin Castro, the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot winner, tragically lost his $25.5 million Malibu mansion to the devastating Palisades Fire. The fire reduced the property, along with Castro's $3.8 million car collection, to rubble.

Easy come Easy Go!

Powerball billionaire Edwin Castro's Malibu mansion is among 12,000 homes destroyed by the wildfires. The once-luxurious property is now a haunting scene.

The Palisades fire, first reported Tuesday morning in Topanga State Park, has scorched nearly 20,000 acres. It's left a trail of destruction that includes Castro's $3.8 million coastal retreat.

Once a symbol of luxury along the Pacific Coast Highway, the property is a charred skeleton, with only concrete pillars remaining.

Castro, who won a historic $2.04 billion jackpot in November 2022, purchased the Malibu getaway in 2023.

Your thread title has a massive error. Million not Billion.

on the other hand. owners of mansions hire staff and have upkeep specific for those properties. They do create jobs.
much like people who own private jets and yachts. It may seem frivolous... but there are companies who build mansions, yachts and small jet planes... they hire people and require vendors to fill orders. If someone wants to pay for a mansion, its their right to do so and nothing wrong at all with it.

A communist or left wing radical would prefer to do away with it all.

No, we don't want to do away with the construction industry.

I do wanna do away with billionaires though.

then who is going to buy those private jets? Yachts and mansions? Your fine with putting all those small companies out of work? Why are Leftists always about contracting our economy ... and you probably think its for the "good of the people"

Millionaires?

I think this is ugly for $25 Million.

The home was part of an extravagant spree that followed his choice to claim the lump sum prize of $997.6 million. His properties include a $25.5 million estate in the Hollywood Hills, a $4 million Japanese-style residence in Altadena for his parents and a $47 million mansion in Bel Air, amounting to a $76 million real estate portfolio.
Reminds m of the upgraded shack that Navin Johnson’s parents built with the money he sent them.

Millionaires?

I dont understand. Who gets to decide that its ok to be a multi- millionaire, but not a Billionaire? what if the person kept creating multiple companies? would he not be justified in keeping his/ her wealth?

Billionaires have too much power.

One from apartheid South Africa just bought himself a presidency.

Are you ok with that? 'Cause I'm not.

Who needs a 25 million dollar home?...

I guess when you win 2B, and can pay a cleaning staff, eh...I suppose if that's your thing. To me, there's such thing as too much though. What's the point of 8 bedrooms and 9 baths if you are only going to use 2 or 3 of them at most.

Me? If I had that kind of money, I'd probably do...maybe 3000 sq ft..maybe smaller, no less than 2500, 4 bed 3 bath, but it would be nice, I'd have a well manicured lawn, pool, BBQ pit. I'd have someone design and build a golf course for me and that's what I would do. I'd pay people to run it for me, it would be a public course with memberships and id help run it, help with taking care of the lawns.

I'd have a couple of my dream vehicles (maybe 2 or 3)

Then I'd do a bunch of charity work.

But yeah, I have no interest in 25M house.
