I have also already looked into my kids going to college in Europe since its so much cheaper there and I personally prefer they live in Europe and we would follow eventually. They know we don't have any money for college so they don't expect it,its either scholarships or loans....fortunately we also live in a town with a college here they can attend for a few years and get the basic crap out of the way.

I left the house at eighteen and the only leg up I got was my Mom put the good word in to an apartment manager she knew so I could rent my own place.

I never took a dime from my parents. In fact I pay the lion's share of my mothers assisted living expenses because my sorry ass brother robbed her blind because she has dementia.

As an employer of mostly young age groups, I haven't seen that.

I feel sorry for the youth of today. Republicans, mostly with conservative ideologies have really stunted their economic growth.

Part of the problem is the education pushes them to get a degree but doesn't always help them choose a proper field of study. If the sciences are too difficult and take too much study you can always opt for something like Folklore and Mythology (Harvard), Surf Science and Technology ( Cornell College) or Peace Studies (Loyola of Chicago), but once you have the degree, finding a job using that degree is a little difficult. Ergo, you push to raise the minimum wage at McDonalds and write mom for money.

Tuition has become obscene; add that to the fact that you are severely limited in how much you can earn during those years to support yourself, and most people are in a big financial hole when they graduate, regardless of the degree. Student loans need to start getting repaid in six months of graduation. Sometimes you're still looking--working checkout at the local grocery store while you run interviews. This is how so many young folks have ended up back in their parents' basements. I'm so sorry for them.

Not for nothing...but have you noticed that the more government hands out for something the more expensive it gets? Like medicine and college tuition?
