Zell Miller's my hero

I've never heard Zell Miller speak before tonight. His speech to the Republican convention was the only one I sat through in its entirety.

I can see why the Democrats hate him. The man is articulate, in command of the facts, he has ethics, he is honorable and he has served his country with distinction. None of these are traits particularly prized by the far left. None of these are traits exhibited by the two hacks being touted by the Democrats this election.

But worst of all, Zell Miller has, in the eyes of Democrats, committed the most unforgivable sin of all - he tells it like it is. He laid bare the leftist agenda to have this nation cower at the feet of the UN. He exposed kerry's shameful voting record. He showed the Democratic party for what it has become - a coalition of self-interest desperately scrabbling to regain the power they justifiably lost. Seeking to regain and wield that power, not in the service of the nation, but instead simply to perpetuate their bankrupt and degenerate policies of socialism and secularism. And for that, you can bet that he will be villified, demonized, cursed and ostracized by the Democrats who seek to elect a lie this November.

Thanks Zell. It was refreshing to hear someone get up and tell the unvarnished truth for a change.

Instead of pillorying him, the Democratic party needs to cherish those like Zell Miller who place conscience and service to the nation above petty political bickering. Instead of responding with cheap harangues, the Democratic party needs to hear the message Zell Miller is trying send them - that they will never again achieve greatness as long as the Democratic party places its own self-interest above the best interest of the nation.

The Democratic party has been in one long, continuous decline since the death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. They will never recover as long as they continue to nominate spineless straw men like john francis kerry.

and lets not forget they nominated al gore in 2000, and they were also all for howard dean. :bye1:

I especially liked how Zell aligned and attacked Kennedy along with Kerry, not John Edwards. He was definitely targeting the left wing powerbrokers of his party.

zell ROCKS :thewave:

All I can say is Zell has balls the size of coconuts !
The man had a passion and integrity to his eyes and a stern God fearing demeanor that I haven't seen in a political figure in a long time ! It was quite refreshing and I for one think he gave the best speech so far at the RNC !
All fact and no bullshit to him ! I like that ...

Damn! I was at work and missed it.

Right after I joined this board, I made a comment about Zel Miller and the fact that he rocked. Several of you sent many a snide remark my way. Hmmmm.

NOT ME !!! :D :teeth: Zell is da man ! :whip3:

My only regret is that he's retiring. Who knows, maybe he'll get
an offer he can't refuse. But every time I've heard him answer the retirement question he hasn't wavered...it seems his mind is made up.

Watch for the character assassination attempts in the morning . I saw that Andrew Sullivan is already calling Zell an old Dixiecrat that championed segregation . Sullivan has had a huge change of heart about the Republican party because of the stand the President is taking on gayrriage . I am constantly amazed at these people that define themselves by what or who they have sex with . Leave us alone about it , we don't want to know , who gives a f'n s.

Has anyone read his book "A National Party No More: The Conscience of a Conservative Democrat"?

If so...what did you think of it? I haven't read it but I've seen it advertised.

I'm wondering if I should put in on my reading list....

Nope. Have not read it.

I'm going out and get it today.

Wonder if they have a poster of Zell I can hang on the wall.

LOL - try making a comment favorable about Miller on the Slate or Yahoo boards. They'll be all over you like flies on a fresh turd.

Well..if you see me at the bookstore, don't forget to wave (I'll be the dead Communist with the beard! :) )

P.S. Forget the poster of Zell Miller....I want to know where I can get a poster of Ann Coulter to hang on my wall! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

That reminds me of another forum I was on....I made some comments based on what I read from Thomas Sowell (who happens to be black)....

I was accused of being a racist, a bigot and a woman hater!

What really hurt was that they didn't call me a homophobe and a jack booted Nazi! :)

P.S. If you get a chance to read anything by Thomas Sowell...he's a good read too. Be forewarned, he's not an easy read, but definitely a rewarding one!

Oh yeah! Bet you loved that. Thomas Sowell is, to me, an indicator of some of the things that are still going right in America. It's really a hoot that you were accused of racism for a post based on Sowell's column. Perhaps next you can quote Gloria Steinem and be accused of misoginy.

Zell was genuinely furious. He needed to get that out of his system. It had obviously been building up for years. He was still angry when Chris Matthews interviewed him, which was bad news for Matthews.
