We have a very serious problem with our checks and balances in this country.

The problem BEGINS without Congress, which has delegated away much of its authority to the Executive Branch.

It is further complicated by the whole concept of Administrative Law (which includes immigration but also things like Social Security) - which belongs to the Executive Branch, not the judiciary.

Now, IF a president were to come along and try to make maximal use of his/her powers, Congress and the Judiciary and the whole rest of America would be screaming bloody murder.

But y'know what? It's their own fault. Not the president's. The president is just doing what presidents do. It is the job of CONGRESS to provide the checks and balances, and right now, they're completely incapable of performing that job. They're dysfunctional.
