The fact that people refuse to get out of the way and LET capitalism work does not mean that capitalism doesn't work. Ditto the fact that people will take government money if you insist on throwing it at them.

Well there's something we agree on. I've been saying for years that neither capitalism nor socialism work, that we need to find the best combination of the two.

OK, something reasonable finally being said. The ideologues of the left and right do not seem to care how their policies affect actual people, only that their 'religion' is adhered to. We have tried capitalism in health care, and it is not working at all. The Europeans have tried socialism, and they pay half as much per capita for much better results. Time to socialize our health care system. We have seen socialized production and marketing systems in many nations, and they work very poorly. Shoddier products, and far less choice. Capitalism, well regulated, works best here. And that is the approach we need to be taking. Use what works, not what what we think "oughta work".

The European system is NOT something we want. I still have a great many family members abroad and several in the family are in the medical field. It would take days to break this down and go into it all, but, it really is not a very good system. Each country has a few better perks here and there, but, across the board, the socialistic format does not work.

Many of those countries have been implementing elements of OUR system in an attempt to fix the open scandal that their own systems have become. Great Britain leaps to mind.
