Every aspect of the economy is energy dependent. When energy is cut off its price goes up. That expense must be recouped and that cost is passed on to every consumer. With less disposable income remaining the entire economy suffers as demand drops.

The EPA caused a massive release of toxic material into a river.

Obviously, we're not getting our money's worth.

The EPA did exactly what it should have done. The EPA has been on the state for years to do something. The EPA worked within the framework of the law to repeatedly and urgently communicate the steps the state needed to take to properly treat its water The responsibility clearly falls on the governor and the state's Department of Environmental Quality. By law, Michigan, not the EPA is responsible under federal law to protect safe and clean drinking water.

Those EPA policies have not stopped the US from becoming the largest producer of petroleum and natural gas in the world for the last 4 years, nor creating a glut in the oil market that has cost 250,000 US jobs.
