Why the Republican Party is doomed

If you are unable to see the obvious evidence of crimes committed then its you who are the addledheaded partisan.

Monica Goodling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
just the tip of the iceberg and a complete indication of further crimes.

The DOJ was opperated in a manner that was against the law.

The woman who hired people for political reasons has already admitted it in testimony. That is a law that was obviously broken.

Keep trying convince people of your position it just makes you look like the partisna you are. There are very good reasons Bush has walked out with extremely low ratings.

Sounds like she was a young renegade. I'm not sure why she was put in such a position of responsibility in the Justice Dept in the first place (a persistent problem I feel with both Bush Presidents). But, as I said in my post above, if "crimes" were committed, the people committing them should be convicted and punished.

Also as I said above, if the Dems are seen to be engaging in a bunch of re-hashing of old 5 and 10 year old crap while the country languishes and it fails to lead and fails to govern, you'll pay for it.

You are wrong.

Why did the republican congress during the Bush years hold so few investigations?

Because they were complicit in the crimes and did not want them uncovered.

It is now time for the investigations to take place.

I fully understand why you dont want them to take place though.

I just wish you cared more for your country than for your party.

Fortunately the vast majority of Americans do.

If failure were a predicate for President to be jailed, Carter would still be rotting in Super Max.

Bush didn't fail to ignore the constitution.

Say, I have a great article for you to read.

ThomHartmann.com - Healthcare Reveals Real "Conservative" Agenda - Drown Democracy In A Bathtub

This is what the GOP has been doing the last 8 years:

When you look closely, you discover that what so many are calling the "conservative agenda" would be shocking and alien to historic conservatives like Republicans Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Barry Goldwater. It really has nothing to do with conservative or liberal, left or right, war or peace. It doesn't care about abortion, prayer, or flags, although these are useful props to bring in fringe groups to "fill the big tent." It's not even about liberty, freedom, or prosperity. Today's so-called "conservative agenda" is, very simply, about ownership.
Often referred to as "the commons," they include the necessities and commonalities of life: our air, water, septic systems, transportation routes, educational systems, radio and TV spectrums, and, in every developed nation in the world except America, the nation's health care system. But the most important of the commons in a democracy is the government itself.
We're entering a new and unknown, but hauntingly familiar, era. The Bush plans to privatize parts of Medicare are just one thread in the larger fabric of this "new world order."
In a feudal state, power is held by those who own the greatest wealth. At its essential core, feudalism could be defined as "government of, by, and for the rich."

Bringing this to today, consider that in 1982, just before the Reagan-Bush "supply side" tax cut, the average wealth of the Forbes 400 was $200 million. Just four years later, their average wealth was $500 million each, aided by massive tax cuts. Today, those 400 people own wealth equivalent to one-eighth of the entire gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States.
And those who would take over the government of the United States have a specific plan for how to do it. It begins with tax cuts, which are then followed by handing government-mandated services over to private corporations.

The result is that the government must then turn to private corporations - the new feudal lords - to administer the commons. This shift of the commons ranges from the commons of health care for the elderly to the commons of the vote, as we're seeing now with private corporations linked to hard-right Republicans taking over the election systems of states like Georgia, Florida, and Texas.
According to hard-right Republicans, killing off government to make way for corporate rule is truly at the core of the so-called "conservative agenda." For example, the lead cheerleader for Bush's tax-cutting fervor is a man named Grover Norquist, well known to every politician in Washington.
"I don't want to abolish government," Norquist told National Public Radio's Mara Liasson in a May 25, 2001 Morning Edition interview. "I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."

Unions - the traditional defenders of working-class people - are becoming politically active and pointing out that all people who draw a paycheck, be they blue- or white-collar workers, are suffering from the new American feudalism. Check out Welcome to the UAW and www.aflcio.org - America's Union Movement  for an extraordinary insight into how clear America's unions have become in their understanding of the true neo-conservative agenda, and how it can be challenged.

I didnt think you could come up with an answer.

How old are you ?

19, 20?

I have 22 and 23 year old sons. But my 6 year old daughter has more sense than you do.

When you can intelligently debate, maybe we'll have a discussion.

Please, please investigate. Do nothing but investigate. Set up a special joint committee to investigate, beg you please do it. :eusa_whistle:

Keep reading this kind of drivel and your last brain cell will die. If I start citing you Right-wing articles to explain what the left is doing, you can say the same to me.

Facts are facts fella

Drivel?

I can't put it any better than this.

I'll read your drivel and tell you why it is drivel.

We've been telling you that corporations were getting too powerful in the political process. This story explains why that is wrong and how our founding fathers warned against this happening.

You guys like to throw around words like socialism. Well why don't you choke on Feudalism for awhile.

United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This committee already exsists to do the investigations,it was there all along but the Rs refused to investigate most of what needed investigating.

Just more undone work that Dems will have to do to clean up the mess left by your team.

Amazing how many illegal, unethical, immoral, anti American, unconstitutional stuff Republicans will put up with from their party.

And now the people that defended bush then later distanced themselves from him will now go into full attack mode on Obama.

PS. Did you see this? Pretty good for day one.

He ordered new lobbying rules for "a clean break from business as usual."

"the way to make government responsible is to hold it accountable." The rules are needed, he added, "to help restore faith in government, without which we cannot deliver the changes that we were sent here to make."

Obama's new lobbying rules will ban aides from trying to influence the administration when they leave his staff. Those already hired will be banned from working on matters they have previously lobbied on, or to approach agencies that they once targeted.

The rules also ban lobbyists from giving gifts of any size to any member of his administration. It wasn't immediately clear whether the ban would include the traditional "previous relationships" clause, allowing gifts from friends or associates with which an employee comes in with strong ties.

The new rules also stipulate that anyone who leaves his administration cannot try to influence former friends and colleagues for at least two years. Obama is requiring all staff to attend to an ethics briefing like one he said he attended last week.

Obama called the rules tighter "than under any other administration in history." They followed pledges during his campaign to be strict about the influence of lobbyists in his White House.

Yeap you pretty much got it.

There are none in the party because their are none in the US who wnat to be associated with the Republican party.

If you were able to join the Ron Paul voters in you still could not win an election for dog catcher.

The Rs wont be able to cheat anymore because the new congress will investigate the voting system and clean up that mess too.

So that means the republicans cant win.

Bullshit. THey're more liberal because they've been brainwashed by the liberal thought factories that are our universities.

The ones who can think for themselves tend to be Republicans, and coincidentally make more money to better contribute to society...while the college liberals sit around on their asses green with envy and hate.

That's a nice strawman you contructed in your mind, so you can continue to believe that voting for bush twice was a great idea, and listening to rush limbaugh in an intellectual pursuit of time.

Hey, businessmen and bankers go to college too. Some of them have MBAs and advanced degrees.

But businessmen and bankers are into making money. They're mostly out for themselves. Nothing wrong with that, I guess. We need bankers.

Its a simple fact that more liberals go into science, education, nursing, arts, and medicine. Its a simple fact that these professional fields attract liberals because a core liberal value is to endeavor to contribute to society in a way that benefits society collectively. Sorry, facts are facts. Where do you thing the term bleeding heart liberal came from? It didn't come out of thin air.

Whoops, crap, I got you confused with Truthmatters...sorry about that. I don't know if you've ever said anything else intelligent or not, but I know he hasn't.

They go into those fields because they have delusions of grandeur and the conviction that they are smarter and therefore destined to lead others to follow their own ideological paths.

They are also typically lazy and those fields are a hundred times easier to access and succeed at than working in other fields, where you have to actually put forth some effort to succeed.

Academia is full of self-important hacks who see it as their mission to bring others to their way of thinking. That's all they are.

Now look here , we dont want the republicans coming up with any ideas.

There "ideas" are what created this big mess acrossed the entire country and in every aspect of American life.

They will be just fine wondering about aimlessly insulting anyone who doesnt agree with their completely failed ideas.

It keeps them busy and gives them pleasure.

We should just pat them on the head form time to time and say "there, there little buddy, want a pretty parade with some balloons".

They think that is what patriotism is.

We will go about the REAL patriotism which is rolling up our sleeves and helping President Obama fix things from the ground up.

They will mutter in the corner that we are all a bunch of "bleeding heart liberals" who dont understand that everything is "hopeless", it makes them feel less scared.

Right almost three years later and you're still a fool with foolish thoughts

Oh Christ. Not the evil Reps keeping minorities from voting again.

Jesus talk about a broken record. No matter the topic TDM always brings has to bring up her "evil Reps keeping folks from voting bs".

Of course she conveniently forgets all about the Dem backed ACORN which actually have been convicted of voter fraud.
