Why is "sex education" even a thing?

There are mature books on sex which are not pornography or obscenity's such as Kama Sutra, so why on earth would someone learn "sex education" from a weirdo at a public school, or some trashy TV show, blog, or magazine?

There are books on math- therefore we shouldn't teach math.......yeah thats the ticket!

I've not read the Kama Sutra ... but I hear it's pretty damn raunchy ... I know there's an ancient temple in India covered in pornographic carvings ...

Christian children are taught about sex by their Christian parents ... so by the time Christian children are presented with the materials in public school ... they should already have a fairly good handle on the subject and be able to pass without the extracurricular work ...

Heathen children don't have Christian parents ... they have heathen parents ... no right-minded faithful Christian wants the heathen parents teaching their heathen children about sex ... now do we? ... there's a need to teach these poor unfortunate children how to stay out of trouble ... there's diseases and unwanted pregnancies and a host of other troubles if the heathen children follow their heathen parents' example ... let's work together to stop the need for abortions, then there won't be any ... our goal right? ...

I second this. The classes are out there for those who need what is in books to be explained to them.
