Why extend the Bush tax cuts?

The GOP never ONCE supported the 787 BILLION dollar stimulus bill--nor did they say well cut somewhere else and we'll see if we support it. This bill was rammed down our throats in fire department speed without ONE SINGLE elected representative having the time to actually read the bill. Only 2 Republicans voted for this bill--and they have been trashed over it--and one has lost his seat--and the other is on the verge.

On the exact same day that Obama signed this bill--he stated it was in effort to keep unemployment from rising over 8.2%. So your statement is 100% FALSE.[/B]

Then the week after Obama crammed this down our throats--and while he was stating that we were in the worst economic crisis since the great depression--he signed off on another 450 BILLION dollar Ominus bill that was loaded with over 9000 earmarks, political pay-back--favors and goodies--"claiming that it was last years business."

They spend like the money grows on trees, yet some puny little tax cuts are the reason for everything from the Indonesian tsunami to annoying panty lines.

Sometimes, you just have to laugh.

I try... but it is getting harder Dude. The idea that taxing the hell outta a small percentage of the population, to placate the 40 percenters who are paying no income taxes just boggles the mind. Thinking that you are entitled to that which you haven't earned and that those that actually earned it owe it to you is dizzying.

Not to mention that they actually think the debt will be reduced by wallet-raping 2% - 5% of the population.

Well, let's see just how far honesty goes.

Obama said that BEFORE the GOP chose to delay, stall, and pretend they would support the stimulus if some cuts were made. The Dems made the cuts but the GOP didn't vote for it anyway. The GOP purpose was to pretend to want to support the stimulus to delay it as long as possible so the economy would get worse, and they succeeded. Unemployment was well over 8% by the time the pared down stimulus package was signed into law without a single GOP vote.

I would not trust the GOP to sdtimulate a free market nd I do not trust the dems to stimulate a free market.

Neither are honest with the people. They spin and they lie to protect their parties.

And how long did it take you to figure that one out?

About a month after I started to listen to their rhetoric.

So it will offset the approx trillion that the Obama adminsitration used to ensure job creation and an unemployment no higher than 8% with that number driopping 6 months in.

SO maybe he would get more support if he said:

In an effort to rectify the error of the stimulus, we need to roll back the tax cuts to the top 5% to offset our losses and start from scratch.

Bet he would have a hell of a lot less resistance.

Honesty goes a long way.

During this weekend’s negotiations over President Obama’s stimulus plan, Senators made some cuts in proposed government spending, and many of them are from environmental programs. Here’s what the Senate cut from the bill:

$1 billion from Energy Loan Guarantees -

This program is meant to provide loans to alternative and renewable energy projects.

$3.5 billion from Federal Buildings Greening -

This program is meant to reduce the environmental impact of the government’s buildings by instituting measures like putting in more efficient light bulbs and heating and cooling systems. The amount was originally $7 billion. Some states are already implementing programs like this.

$100 million from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration -

This funding is to go toward federal scientific research, and was at $427 million under the original bill.

$300 million Federal Hybrid Vehicles -

Originally $600 million, this program is meant to boost the fleet of hybrid vehicles in the government.

$25 million from Fish and Wildlife -

This program is meant to help wildlife sanctuaries, national parks and conservation areas.

$200 million from Superfund -

This program, originally billed at $800 million, is intended for the EPA to clean up superfund sites.

$90 million from State & Private Wildlife Fire Management -

Originally $850 million, this program is to provide rehabilitation for forested lands.

Voinovich Leaves Stimulus Negotiations | The Weekly Standard

Voinovich left a meeting in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) office around 2:30 p.m., saying he did not believe there was a deal he could agree to on an amendment that would cut as much as $100 billion from the more than $920 billion measure.

Opposing Views: How Will Obama's Stimulus Bill Affect America?

After intense negotiations and several false starts, President Barack Obama signed the controversial $787 billion stimulus bill into law on February 17, 2009.

He said, they never once supported the bill. That is true. During negotiations there were attempts to work with the Dems but the administration wanted to bulldoze their way through and go it alone. So the bill passed with no GOP votes.

That's as true as Voinovich saying they would not cut $100 billion from the $920+ billion original bill that was signed at $787 billion.

So? These are not conservatives.... point?

Oh, this is a "Republicans Bad", "Democrats Good" thread.
