Second I really think it is about the concept of projection. Half of the country really doesn't like the bills put forth by congress over the last few years and they dont like the agenda/policies that Obama is pushing. They take their dislike of the bills passed and their dislike of the policies and agenda of Obama and project it onto him personally.

People dissaprove of, fear, and even hate his policies and some people can't help but to extend those feelings to the figurehead behind them.

Much like every ill of the USA was ascribed to GWB during his presidency..

People are now suffering from ODS just like they had (some still do) suffer from BDS
