According to H. Paul Jeffers' The Great Depression, during the Great Depression, racial tensions coincidentally flared in the south, leading to a wave of lynchings, on the eve of the election of FDR, who (with his wife) was much more accommodating to black Americans, e.g. FDR had an unofficial "Black Cabinet". In the 1932 elections, blacks turned to the Democrats, and voted for FDR. So, the economic calamity of the Great Depression, and racial violence, happened to benefit the Democratic party, including FDR ?

When the conservative Southerners turned from Democratic to Republican. Surely you know that.

Why do we have a black American, how about just an American. This way of thinking is a big part of our problem today. We have black spelling bee's a black cacus and you get the message. If we had a white anything all hell would break lose. Why can't we all be just Americans, equal under the law.

This is another urban myth perpetually spread by the propagandists on the left.

Southerners didn't start voting republican until many years later when businesses in the south started booming and people believed the republican party was more business friendly.

It had to do with money not race or color.

Democrats stole and butchered the original civil rights act brought to the floor by republicans. And as they always do, the democrats stole credit for a republican idea.
