Who Doomed Sarah Palin’s Presidential Dream?

By Benjy Sarlin

Ultimately, Palin has been her own worst enemy. Over and over she's made costly unforced errors that have solidified her critics' worst impressions of her while alienating potential supporters. The most disastrous -- and illustrative -- recent example was her response to the Gabrielle Giffords shooting in Arizona. Under intense scrutiny for her use of violent political imagery, Palin actually began to garner some public sympathy from unexpected corners as it became clear the alleged killer was motivated more by a deranged worldview than any coherent cause. But she instantly squandered it by releasing a tone-deaf video condemning a "blood libel" against her that only appeared more inappropriate after Obama delivered a moving speech focused on the individual shooting victims' biographies later the same day. Palin's popularity plummeted to new lows in the aftermath, but the episode did little more than confirm the already entrenched image of the ex-governor as a thin-skinned, rash, and divisive figure.

No one cared that much about Palin before the shooting or after, except the hysterical folks on the left who screamed about "crosshairs".

the thing is, Palin never running for president. She was enjoying her notoriety and collecting money before her 15 minutes were up. And that's it. Please don't think it was ever anything else.

Who Doomed Sarah Palin’s Presidential Dream?

....And, how desperate can a Republican be, to beg her.....

Who doomed her dream? Probably George W. Bush. Most Americans feel it's much too soon to install another idiot in the White House. It's the same thing that doomed Santorum.

Her "Palm Reader" told her not to run.

I didn't think there could be anything funnier than a politician with national office aspirations who writes on his or her own hand...until I saw that she crossed something out that was written on her hand. That's kind of like cheating by using your fingers to count, but then numbering each finger so you can keep track of which finger represents what number.

This is a great nation!

Yes, it is! Palin has proven that even a moron can get rich - with help from advisors, ghostwriters and handlers.

You left out TELEPROMPTERS from your assessment of what it took The/Your New Messiah to be anointed.

Reagan, BUshI, Clinton, BushII all used telepromter as does all of tv land that is live and recorded, try another lame insult, please.

Unrelenting attacks by the liberal media on her and her family and even jokes about her Down's Syndrome baby beat her up pretty good. A democrat activist creepy stalker even rented a house next store to spy on her.

A friggin 7month old thread

what dumping on her daughter in the in the recent thread wasn't enough?

I thought it was pretty cute. She is one heck of a lady.

Who Doomed Sarah Palin’s Presidential Dream?

$arah Palin.

Hugely funny to read rw's saying the Couric transcripts don't match what we saw or denying that $arah had teleprompters installed in her home but still flubbed most of what she said.

$hes small time and not qualified for anything more than where she is now - fux.

The $uckers will buy the books $he paid to have written for her and fux will love her until something better comes along. $he looks worse and worse, more haggard, getting older and her fans don't want that.

$arah is a non-issue, not even vaguely entertaining anymore. Just kind of pathetic in her $truggle to hold on. The baggers are welcome to her.

I think it was her and her extreme followers coming down so hard on Obama and Liberals, calling them terrorists, saying Obama pals around with them, etc.

The targeting map and encouraging gun lovers to take weapons to rallies was just stupid and after Gabby Giffords was shot, a lot of people blamed Palin and the Teaparty because of their violent rhetoric.

.

It certainly wasn't Palin's fault that she was thrust into the campaign, that was the fault of McCain and his "experts". She clearly was not ready, clearly does not have the depth of knowledge, intellectual agility or overall demeanor for the office of President. Can't blame her for that either, we are what we are.

What she IS responsible for, however, are the actions she has taken since then and will take in the future. People are allowed to be critical of her as they choose.

.

Seriously... it's kind of embarrassing to be responding to shit that people wrote 7 months ago like it's still relevant.

Again with the 'violent rhetoric'? Haven't we been over this more than enough to disprove that 'fact' for you? Seriously?

Fucking embarrassing for the left to keep this bullshit up... but, hey, feel free to make yourself look ridiculous.

Embarrassing for wingnuts, that's why they hate it when we bring it up. Haven't I told you enough times that you're not anywhere near knowledgeable enough to school anybody here?
