1. They can continue their current path of passing pandering legislation that has no chance of becoming law

2. They can take advantage of their two year window when they control Congress to negotiate with Democrats but still form legislation on their own terms

Predicting Election outcomes is very tough business. Many end up looking like fools. Karl Rove is a good example. He got everything so wrong. Wishful thinking clouds judgement. The problem with cons is that they never know when to shut up. You idiots believe that you can only be a Republican if you buy into every extreme position from every radical conservative. That is why the Republican Party is going to go the way of the Whigs. There will be a new very conservative party that comes out of it. It may even still be called the Republican Party, but it won't be the same, and it will never win at the national level. Basically, we will be heading toward a one party system where any political arguments of significance will take place within the Democratic Party itself. This isn't going to happen overnight, but give it another twenty years.
