I asked a very devout Christian and a close friend of many years what he said when he prayed to God. I tried it phrase it in a way that wasn't "leading". For instance, I didn't say, "What do you ask God for when you pray?"

I didn't ask, "Does God answer your prayers?"

I said, "What do you say when you pray to God?" And I told him I would ask that question on this board. Whatever people say, I will print out and give to him so be careful. This is not a joke.

I have no supernatural beliefs, but my friend is seriously interested in what others "say" when they pray to God.

I told him many might not want to share. He said that's OK. He said I could write out what he says. But I don't want to do that yet because it may be surprising to some. There is no politics or global warming or science or any of that stuff involved. It's a simple question. Please don't answer if you feel it's too intrusive. I will not negative comment on any answer received.

I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way, so I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

That's funny. I will have to call my friend and tell him that. He will get a kick out of it.

I ask God to teach me the things that would best enable me to be whomever and however I need to be to best glorify Him. Some days I would have myself be quite the shape shifter if I weren't better focused. Of course, with the interpretation of God being dependent upon the individual, my request even works for the principalities and powers at work between us.

    OK,

My friend says he doesn't ask for anything. All of his prayers are "praise" thanking God.

    That's what he told me.

I don't always pray, but when I do, I prefer the Hail Mary.

I'm the most interesting prayer in the world.
