Trump has refused to sign the latest funding bill. Presidents are supposed to be able to veto bills.

The problem lies in how the House & Senate operate.

Majority leadership dictate what gets a vote. With Mitch McConnell, Trump is dictating what gets a vote.

Any bill that has been vetoed should return to the houses for a revote. Regardless if a Presidents orders his Senate leader not to. Because in allowing this, wed allow for no veto overrides.

The system is working just fine for those it is intended to work for.

Harry Reid was the one who triggered the rarely-used procedural option called the “nuclear option” to change the Senate rules.

Hurts, don't it? :laughing0301:

But keeping to the topic, if we change the rules as the OP suggests, we can still keep all the dysfunctional partisanshit, right?

Sure, I like partisanship. If the Democrats aren't going to come to the table and work with us, screw 'em bigly.

We've always been the ones reaching across the aisle and compromising with the Democrats. But don't expect that to happen much anymore, the rules of the game have changed.

So yes, partisanshitheadism shall remain central and foundational to american politics. Thank you.

I said at the time that was a crappy idea and it would bit us in the ass eventually. Those rules are there for a reason, and should not be tampered with.

Oh they'll figure that out at some point when some "liberal" president doesn't get his way. The question remains however, Don had 2 years with both houses, why couldn't he have gotten his list done? "National Emergency" pouting and a shutdown?

Ok, my guess is you'll see this again. Strong man police state stuff though, straight up.

The Left think they’re smarter than the Founding Fathers.

obviously contagious.......

~S~

It is universally and duplicitly decried and yet addictively practiced in america. The positive feedback loop is fomented booth by the political system itself, by the corporate state media machine, and by the american people themselves. Like most of what americans moan and wail about about, they participate in and cooperate with the very thing they/we decry. Someone else should change you see, americans should never have to expect to alter their own behavior to realize a different outcome.
