UN resolution for a truce in Gaza passes 120-14

Towards the end Arafat saw the angry mob monster he created turned on him, if I remember correctly, they had him cowaring under his office desk as they surrounded his bldg.

That was Hamas, who were trying to supplant him and Fatah as the government of Palestine. They were unable to do so, and eventually broke the Gaza Strip away and have been trying to run it as an independent nation and the "Real Palestine" ever since.

I was the one years ago, who found in the archives the letter to the Arab league further proving the Palestinians did not already reside in the region and they only immigrated (by request of the scheme in the letter)from "many Arab nations" to match the Jewish immigration to Israel.
The letter was from:
Abdullah bin al-Hussein Amman on:
11 Thul Hijja 1364 Corresponding to:
16 November 1945 Presidency of the Arab League - Cairo

"The Arab nation is wailing the urgent magnanimity of the Arab States and there is no time to waste, otherwise the Jews will be able to buy new lands*and push new immigrants to Palestine.")

Secondly he mentions how they wanted to bring in Arab immigrants into Palestine on a monthly basis and in numbers equal to the Jewish immigrants.

These ignorant college students don't realize they are the racists supporting racists states, that have plenty of existing racist territories taking up a huge chunk of the planet, thus not needing a safe haven state of just like race people to survive, meaning calling it Genocide to go after a terrorist org is like crying genocide to wipe Isis out of Syria. You think all that Money to universities that people would know what the word Genocide means. They should ask for their money back and look it up in a Webster's dictionary.
If you can only use fake misinformed (stupid)talking points to rally support as a rallying cry then chances are your cause is just as phoney and worthless and your flock will be a parade of village idiots. So basically Iran is twirling it's baton leading a parade of fools.

Sorry, that is absolute nonsense. Just as nonsensical as those who claim Jews had not lived in the area.
Mark Twain even wrote the areas were uninhabited and barren.
Yes some (very few) lived there, but many fled when the Mufti stired up trouble and the people abandoned their shacks & land for safety and a better way of life.
The biggest obstacle to peace over the years was this incessant desire to pile in people from all over into a tiny area (called rights to return which as stated was very few & who's to say their offspring wanted to return to chaos?) in which case it was not healthy nor wise for sustainability and the mesh now called Palestinians could not grasp it was for their own safety and survival to not create such health risks, nor did they see the Arab nations using it as a population purging death trap that they could turn on and off at whim and send undesirables and agressive male populations over to fight their proxy battles and thin out their herds (wars stimulate economies) without damaging their own homelands.

UN General Assembly calls for ‘humanitarian truce’ in Gaza leading to halt in Israel-Hamas fighting

Fuck the UN. Who died and left them in charge? Who gave them say for how another country settles its own affairs? Worse, there is no truce with Hamas. What they are really calling for is for Israel to get out of Gaza and back off, then Hamas would only use the opportunity to regroup and attack again.

What they want is the Jew to fight fair… Here let me tie your hands behind your back so we can do with you as we please…

So you don't think any civilians in Gaza are being killed by the bombs dropped by Israel?

Do you think many civilians have been killed by the Hamas rocket attacks on Israel over the last 2 decades?

Sorry, it is rather hard to give a frack about that. It is kinda like being all concerned about the civilians in NSDAP Germany. Hamas is the organization they put in control of their local government. They have supported them for the last two decades and encouraged them to attack Israel endlessly. So kinda hard to really give a frack when Israel finally has enough after they break into schools and decapitate children and kidnap civilians.

Tell me, should we have stopped attacking Germany during WWII because some civilians might have been killed? One of the ultimate purpose sin a nation losing a war is to teach them the lesson of allowing violent radicals who refuse to recognize the rights of others to live should not be allowed. And if some die while getting spanked, then so be it.

However, there is a huge difference between what Hamas does an what Israel is doing. One purposefully targets civilians as they are "soft targets" and they simply want to kill as many as possible. The civilians in Gaza are collateral damage. That is just a fact of war. But maybe they will learn when it is all over that they should be more like the West Bank, and try to reach an accommodation with Israel and live with them peacefully.

Fuck the UN.

You know, at one time I really believed in the UN. However, decades of UN failure after UN failure has largely left me ambivalent towards them.

I am all for a UN ceasefire. So long as they put in a large multinational military force, and instantly retaliate against either side that breaks the ceasefire. That was how the armistice in Korea was reached, as well as Iraq removed from Kuwait.

But other than those two instances, in most cases they have been largely toothless and done damned near nothing but sit on the sidelines and watch atrocities going on and done nothing to stop it.

Now in Somalia 3 decades ago they tried, but once again when the warlords started to fight back, they simply turned tail and ran.

I believe in the goal of the UN. But unless they are willing to go all Peacemaker on their ass, then they should just butt the hell out and let the grown-up settle it.

The problem with the UN is that it is 80% all high talk, 95% jetting around the world and paid vacations and parties for themselves and 5% action, and 90% all US money, and 100% world-government socialism.

Don't understand what is mentally wrong with the Lebanese to constantly allow Syria to use it as a Proxy retaliation fighting ground

Lebanon is a broken nation, and has been so for decades.

In essence, you have three different groups fighting for dominance. The Druze, the Christians, and the Muslims. Each with their own militias and happy so long as they are allowed to massacre the other two sects at their pleasure.

Part of the biggest problem in most of the region is that they have no real sense of "Statehood". They are still mostly tribal in social organization, and will follow others who they see as "their tribe", even if it is ultimately to be used as puppets. That is why for most of the nations of that region, the government has to be either a monarchy or a hereditary dictatorship. Both of which give the nation a sense of stability and continuity, and hopefully moderate the more fractional segments of the population by giving them something to strive to achieve together.

But that often brings up even more issues. Like when the government itself chooses to abuse the minorities in the nation. That ultimately is what caused both Iraq and Syria to fail as governments. Not that they were dictatorships, but that they abused their population and used the factionalism to persecute minorities in their nation as a way to try and hold onto power. And I am not actually against a dictatorship, so long as it does not harm their own population.

Tito is a great example of that. He kept Yugoslavia together for decades, by refusing to allow any of the various factions to persecute the others. A Serbian himself, he was just as brutal against the Serbs as he was any other of the factions in his country when they refused to "play nice". And when he died, the country did not last much longer as there was nobody left to stop the various groups from attacking each other. Generalissimo Franco (who is still fighting to stay dead) is another. A dictator, but a rather benevolent one.

I realized how broken the UN was when in the 1990s NATO increasingly was having to do things that the UN refused to do. And in most instances, unless the US or a strong NATO partner is involved their actions mean absolutely nothing.

I would love to see a strong UN, like we had in the first decade. Korea is a perfect example of what a UN operation should be like,. But within another decade, it became increasingly weak and impotent and not doing their actual job. Just look at the "UN in action" in the Middle East in the last few decades. Iraq attacked and annexed a neighboring nation, and other than pass some pointless resolutions the UN itself did nothing. It took the US and a coalition of mostly NATO members to kick them out of Kuwait.

And now it seems like every year they are going into more nonsensical social engineering and other nonsense, and not actually doing their job. Which is to try and promote stability by ending such actions as we are seeing in Israel-Palestine and Russia-Ukraine.

I would love to see the UN gain their genitals back and return to being a strong force to stopping fighting. But so long as all they can do is pass worthless resolutions that have absolutely no teeth that will never happen.

Perfect example, the UN currently has sanctioned North Korea 20 times in the last 3 decades. 13 times in the last decade. Has any of them done a damned thing to stop their nuclear or missile tests? Nope, they don't care, because the UN is useless.

Maybe they should sanction the climate, and order it to not change.

Interesting vote that went 120-14 for a truce. Those against the truce,

UN General Assembly calls for ‘humanitarian truce’ in Gaza leading to halt in Israel-Hamas fighting

.....The 14 countries that voted against the resolution include Israel and its closest ally, the United States, five Pacific island nations and four European countries — Austria, Croatia, Czechia and Hungary, all European Union members. Eight EU members voted in favor.....

The US owns the UN in all significant regards.

But the world is watching, and perhaps Israel's depravity really has gone too far this time.

The resolution also stresses the need “to urgently establish a mechanism to ensure the protection of the Palestinian civilian population.

I'm finding this hard to argue........~S~

I'm finding this hard to argue

And what about the mechanism to ensure the protection of the Israeli civilian population?

Over a thousand were killed at the start of this latest round of attacks, most of them civilians. Including children attacked and killed in schools and dismembered. And over two hundred were taken hostage.

And notice, the attacks are not happening in the Fatah region of the West Bank, the attacks are only in the Hamas occupied Gaza Strip.

Feeling "bad" for the civilian population that has supported and encouraged their "government" to attack Israel over and over again for more than two decades is kind of like feeling bad for the civilian population of Germany that encouraged their attacks and atrocities during WWII. At this point, to be honest I am more or less of the belief that Israel should go through the Gaza Strip with a chainsaw and wipe Hamas out the best it can. Then maybe put in a real UN peacekeeping force with say Jordan having most of the duties of returning the stability of the region with lots of cooperation with the Fatah government of the West Bank. Let them reestablish control over the region and a single Palestinian government bring stability to that area.

With an actual UN military force that immediately takes almost medieval retribution on either side which breaks the cease fire once it is established. Not simply sitting in the middle with little more than unarmed security guard who can only "observe and report" and pass simply more resolutions when Hamas tries to start the conflict again.

But I know that is a pipe dream, the UN has shown over and over that they will likely never actually get involved, and prefers to actually simply pass worthless resolutions as opposed to doing the hard job of actually ensuring such conflicts never break out in the first place.

Nanny Public Relations UN can shove it
Truce means when the shooting stops .
Shooting stops when Hamas stops existing.
