Two of the Best Jokes Ever!!!

A grammar site gave an interesting example that was relevant.

"We fed the bananas to the monkeys because they were ripe."

To believe the conservatives version of what the president said, you have to believe in the above sentence that it's the monkeys who are ripe, not the bananas.

So much of wingnut "debate" rests on superfine parsing or distortions of good faith statements. We saw it in what they did to Howard Dean's "scream" and the President's joke about the 57 states. It's shameful and not worthy of the political tradition we like to think we have.

No, it does't.

It rests on your admitting the truth.

Somehow, you on the Left can never connect the dots, call upon experience or evidence....

Like this:

"Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday that his wife, as well as the wife of President Barack Obama, would have had “no chance” in life had it not been for government help. According to vice presidential pool reports:
I know, literally, Barack and I talk about it. Neither one of us would have had any shot,” Biden said. “The same with our wives. Both wives are smarter than both of us. Literally, these very accomplished women would not have any chance without some help.”

The same message:
‘If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.’

One more message for you:

There's none so blind as those who will not see.

Wise up.

Without revealing your personal identity or private information, AND without lying, since both would be inappropriate,

maybe you should explain to us how you got to whatever success you may have in life without ANY help from the government.

I keyed the words but I'm not strutting-about as if I'd invented the language, the computer and the internet. That's pretty much what wingnuts want us to believe about whatever they post.

NO YOU DIDN'T!!!

Government held your little paw and moved it to each key.....

....get with the program!!!

That's not what the President implied. He never said government was responsible for everything.

He was making the case that the business owners were supported by the customers. That is pretty obvious.

Still, this is politics and the beast must be fed.

Joke heard today: Obama, Biden and Pelosi are sinking on a boat, who survives?

We do.

Yeah, he only meant the good things.

Bizarro Girl lives in a world where businesses can survive without government.

Forgetting that these "rugged individualists" wouldn't last a week without legal protections, law enforcement, patent rights, and of course, the lucrative government contracts they all compete for.

Most small independent businesses run from gov;t contracts as fast as they can, there are too many regulations. The are written by gov't workers and they are paid by the word. Government has not helped or made any business succeed unless they have gotten big enought to hire lobbyist and congressmen.

To believe Obama's comment meant what the neo-Conservatives are suggesting he meant would necessarily mean Obama is stupid, which is a fundamentally stupid notion.

The meaning of Obama's comment was perfectly clear to me -- and I agree completely with it. Except for those pioneers who carved the earliest era of this Nation out of a raw wilderness, no one who has built a commercial enterprise in modern America has done so without exploiting resources which were set in place by the labor and inventiveness of generations of predecessors and the cooperative efforts of many past and present contemporaries.

To expand on that premise, no one has accumulated a fortune in America without somehow exploiting the material, administrative and human resources of the Nation, which is why it makes no sense to believe government has no moral right to collect taxes and to control the commercial and financial activities of entrepreneurs and idle wealth.

To use your argument would mean that the government owns everything. To use your argument means that businesses don't pay their fair share for those streeets and police.

You've missed the point, Mikey....no, he isn't stupid, but he is far from good at what he does.

This, from Gingrich's book, "To Save America,"...

If you’re a secular socialist, you generally have to maintain your power in ways that the public inherently dislikes: paying off supporters by putting earmarks in appropriations bills, writing bills in collusion with lobbyists, making special deals to get enough votes to pass legislation, and appointing really bizarre nominees to top government jobs. Basically, you have to hide what you intend to do, and what your real goals are.

Again: Basically, you have to hide what you intend to do, and what your real goals are.

He messed up...let the cat out of the bag.

The point of the OP is that some of you guys actually claim you didn't hear what you heard.

did you hear of the new "Mitt Romney Special" that Hookers are offering nowadays?

For an extra $20, they'll change positions......Ba dump, dump!

What material, administrative and human resources have been exploited by Steve Jobs?

Did Jobs commence his enterprise on a boat in international waters? Or out in the boondocks of some undeveloped no-man's-land?
