White House: Hey, We Still Have That Winston Churchill Bust (Or Do We?)

The latest bit of Tom Foolery coming from the Obama campaign of desperation. Seems like the three card Monte dealer is trying to pull a fast one. Turns out the bust was sent back, there were two. I don't even care if Obama sent it back, but to try and fool the public is something that should bother us all.

Washington Times: “So presumably it was no accident that one of the new president’s first gestures was to have a bust of Winston Churchill given to the United States by the British government removed from the Oval Office.”

The Telegraph: “A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government’s art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.”

The Daily Beast: “…the White House sent back to the British Embassy a bust of Sir Winston Churchill that had occupied a cherished spot in President Bush’s Oval Office.”

The Washington Post: “The murmurs began when President Obama returned to the British Embassy the Winston Churchill bust that had been displayed in the Oval Office since Tony Blair lent it to George W. Bush.”

Tampa Bay Times: “Churchill’s bronze is now in the possession of the British ambassador to the United States, Sir Nigel Sheinwald.”

That was one Obama's first diplomatic gestures to the Great Britain upon entering office. Attempting to give back the valuable and meaningful bust of Winston Churchill given to the Bush White House. Obama said, he wanted to put his bust of Abe Lincoln in its place. Like the two couldn't occupy the same room?

That should have first signaled how inept Obama was to hold office, handle foreign affairs and his mindset for the next four years.

More dumb fucks repeating a lie. When are you little boys going to grow up and realize that there are actually some substanstial issues out there that need to be discussed in an adult fashion.

Oops! Busts of Winston Churchill cause Obama flap

Pfeiffer sought to tamp down the criticism with his blog post, which included a photo of Obama showing a Churchill bust to British Prime Minister David Cameron. "Hopefully this clears things up a bit and prevents folks from making this ridiculous claim again," Pfeiffer wrote.

Well, not so fast. James Barbour, press secretary and head of communications for the British Embassy, gave a statement to ABC News explaining that there are two busts.

The bust of Sir Winston Churchill, by Sir Jacob Epstein, was lent to the George W Bush administration from the UK's Government Art Collection, for the duration of the Presidency. When that administration came to an end so did the loan; the bust now resides in the British Ambassador's Residence in Washington, D.C. The White House collection has its own Epstein bust of Churchill, which President Obama showed to Prime Minister Cameron when he visited the White House in March.

Pfeiffer updated his blog post with more detail, explaining the Churchill artwork that's been in the White House collection dates back to the 1960s.

"The idea put forward by Charles Krauthammer and others that President Obama returned the Churchill bust or refused to display the bust because of antipathy towards the British is completely false and an urban legend that continues to circulate to this day," Pfeiffer wrote.

Interesting thing about Winston, his mother was American. How much more do you need to buttress the argument regarding American exceptionalism other than that the man who stood alone as the bulwark against the imposition of a New Dark Ages on Europe, June 1940 to June 1941, was half American? For nearly two and a half centuries Europe's best and brightest, hardest working, most industrious, most creative individuals moved westward across the Atlantic in the hope of creating better lives for themselves in America, so much so that Europe suffered a brain drain in the aftermath leaving only the dregs behind, Karl Marx, Mussolini. It was only by historical accident that this woman followed her gonads eastward against the current that Europe and quite probably the rest of the world was saved from the imposition of a Fascist Dark Ages. Barack Obama now wants to lead America in following in the footsteps of the dregs.

I guess old rocks is right and we should be talking about Romney's underwear or maybe him being truthful about the Olympics instead of Obama's insult of the Brits and his following up with lying.

Who gives a fuck? Does the queen keep a bust of George Washington on display at her palace? They still think of him as a traitor.

Depends on what they feel insulted about. Should we put a bust of Mao Tse tung in the White House as to not insult the Chinese? Maybe Obama will give Churchill his own Christmas bulb.

As usual, the Moonie Washington Times is lying. It wasn't given to us, it was on loan to the Bush Administration. When that Administration ended, so did the loan. But there's still an original given to the American people that is on display at the Whitehouse.

"The White House collection has its own Epstein bust of Churchill, which President Obama showed to Prime Minister Cameron when he visited the White House in March."

But Pfeiffer is refusing to back down. Following the Embassy's statement on Saturday, he updated his original post arguing the bust in the White House today is the original from the 1960s; the one returned at the start of this administration was lent to President George W. Bush by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and "on January 20, 2009 - Inauguration Day - all of the art lent specifically for President Bush's Oval Office was removed by the curator's office, as is common practice at the end of every presidency," he wrote.

Pfeiffer condemned "the idea put forward by Charles Krauthammer and others that President Obama returned the Churchill bust or refused to display the bust because of antipathy towards the British" as "completely false and an urban legend." The "others" include presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who fueled the debate Thursday when he vowed to return the bust should he take the Oval Office in November.

Keeping the bust, you are right who cares? But apparently Obama and his administration all of a suddenly cares.

Again, who cares? But it is Obama once again showing YOU how dishonest is his administration. Dishonest in the little things dishonest in the big things.

Well, she does keep a porcelain box given to her by George W Bush on her desk.

Ah sure, on loan and the lease was up....right.... Yet the Obama administration tried to say it was never sent back. Why didn't they just say the bust was sent back because the lease expired instead of having their minions make up the story?
