Surge of over 2,000 Central American migrants met by Mexican national guard at border

CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico —

More than 2,000 Central American migrants surged onto a bridge spanning the Suchiate River between southern Mexico and Guatemala on Saturday as Mexican national guardsmen attempted to block their path.

Mexican authorities closed the bridge after the migrants tried to push their way across. The bridge was open on the previous day to migrants who wanted to cross and request asylum in Mexico or seek to regularize their status and find work.

As the crowd swelled, amid shoves, Mexican officials allowed several dozen migrants to enter the country via the bridge, while a voice over a loudspeaker warned migrants against trying to slip into Mexico without passing through immigration checkpoints.

Nearby, hundreds of national guardsmen lined the river to prevent migrants from crossing. The voice on the loudspeaker warned repeatedly that those trying to transit through the country may not be granted asylum in the U.S., even if they make it there.

Trump wins again. It's quite ridiculous that Mexico has to pay for our border defense, because we have an anti-American cabal infesting our political organs. On the other hand, Mexico paying for our border defense... promises made, promises kept?

As a bonus, Trump is now fixing the issue with the kids being held in detention centers. The kids are not even entering America under Trump. Shouldn't leftists be very happy for the children?

Our media isn't reporting it but this is the SECOND attempt by a massive caravan to overwhelm the Mexican border in recent weeks.

I can imagine the CNN headline

"Mexico stops an invasion at US border, as a result of Trump's actions"

In an alternate universe where they were not fake news anyway.
