Well, well, well, looky what we have here...

Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman reportedly entangled in an FBI investigation for his possible involvement in Russian election interference, secretly worked for a Putin-allied Russian billionaire to advance Russia’s interests abroad, the Associated Press reported Wednesday. Manafort lobbied on behalf of Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaskia for $10 million a year from 2005 to around 2009. Deripaska was known as one Putin’s closest allies during that time.

...after Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort said he was not working for the Russians...

In early November, Manafort told NBC News that he “never had ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin, or had dealings with Putin and his government.”

...it turns out he was working for the Russians.

But in 2005, Manafort penned a memo to Deripaska that laid out his plan to prop up Russia’s global standing, even though the Eastern European power’s relationship with the U.S. was deteriorating at that time.

“We are now of the belief that this model can greatly benefit the Putin Government if employed at the correct levels with the appropriate commitment to success,” Manafort wrote.

Might want to reread your two quotes.

First one he states he never had dealings with Putin, nor his government.

Second one is about a letter to a Russian Billionaire, about setting up a plan that would help Putin.
(which doesn't mean he contacted Putin or his government)

Facts don't matter to these shills. They think anyone that has ever spoken to a Russian is guilty of "collusion". Unless of course that person was a Democrat.

I once dated a Russian girl, I'm sure that qualifies me as "having ties with Putin".

Those are the Manafort talking points, even though he is not accused of dealing directly with the Russian government or Putin, he likes to point out that he wasn't. It is called creating a false issue as a deflection. Instead of proving he did not have dealings with Russian government associates and Putin associates, he wants to make the issue about direct connections. The purpose is to suggest connections with these associates weren't such a bad thing.

2005 really has nothing to do with Trump. It is not against the law to do business with Russia and it certainly wasn't in 2005.

We do business with Russia today. We pay them millions of dollars to take our astronauts to and from the space station.

nooooo...

it's called telling the truth.

He said he had no contact with the Putin government, and he apparently didn't.

By the time the Left gets finished spinning it tho, they'll have him as a sleeper KGB agent, sent here years ago

Tip of the iceberg.

We're at the "discovered a break-in" phase.

Manafort worked for Deripaska. Ended in 2009. He's a promoter and lobbyist. It's his gig and its freaking legal.

And he didn't give away any US uranium.

He was being paid 10 million dollars a year by a close friend and business partner of Putin for at least 4 years. And there is no way you can associate the word "truth" with anything or anyone connected with trump.

Bullshit. Old news. I think Deripaska is in his bio or credits. I know if I was a high roller promoter like Manafort I'd sure use it on my brag page. That's how you get other clients.

While he worked as Trumps campaign manager, he worked for free. He wasn't getting paid by Trump. He was getting paid by the Russian. Now, Team Trump is distancing themselves from Manafort.

Why?

More to follow...

Yes... over a decade before he joined Trump's campaign in early 2016. And he didn't have deals with Putin's Russia, but with a billionaire sympathetic to Putin.

Don't see how this stains Trump, or anything else. Nice try, liberals.

We're at the "discovered a break-in" phase.

First you have to find some ice, before you can find an iceberg.

What you found was:
"Manafort lobbied on behalf of Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaskia for $10 million a year from 2005 to around 2009"

"never had ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin, or had dealings with Putin and his government"

So you found..... nothing.

Do you have any idea how many people around the world, lobbied their governments in nations across this planet, on the behalf of US based companies during the last 8 years, let alone the last 50?

It would be impossible to guess at that number.

The two obvious examples that come to mind, would be CNN and the fall of the Soviet Union. They lobbied the government hard to get to televise the end of the Soviet Union. Does that mean they were acting on behalf of the US government, and were super secret agents of destruction?

Come on.

Second would be Enron and the India power plant, where they lobbied the Indian government to build the project, with the backing of Bill Clinton. Do you think Enron was an agent of Bill Clinton? Of course not.

Tip of the iceberg by butt. You haven't even found cold water yet.

Why did they try to keep it secret? Why did they lie when US intelligence agencies alerted the country that Russia was meddling in the elections?
