Trump will eliminate the $19 trillion national debt “over a period of eight years”

Trump will eliminate the $19 trillion national debt “over a period of eight years," or so he said. This may have come right after Trump promised that Mexico would build a wall for us and paying for it.

Incredibly, many believed him and voted for him. Of course, neither happened. Most of us knew that would be the case.

The reverse happened. Americans are paying for the wall, and Trump caused the National Debt to dramatically increase although there has been no wars, no recession, and there has been a booming economy.

On November 9, 2016, most of us knew that would happen, too.

CBS reports, "The U.S. government's budget deficit for the 2019 fiscal year surpassed the $1 trillion benchmark in August, the highest level in seven years."

The last time we hit this level was when President Obama was still battling the effects of the Great Recession, a global economic crisis he inherited from the previous Republican administration along with two of our longest wars.

CBS continued. "The government budget deficit climbed $169 billion to $1.07 trillion in the first 11 months of this budget year, as government spending this year outpaced tax collections in areas such as Social Security, Medicare, defense and interest payments on the national debt. With just one month left in the budget year, the deficit is up 18.8% over the year-ago period, according to the Treasury Department.

"The government has recorded trillion-dollar-plus deficits in only one other period — between 2009 through 2012, when federal spending shot up to cope with the worst financial crisis since the 1930s."

Thank you for your service, Mr. President. You're fired!

All those things could had happened, but Dems have to sabotage anything that is good for the country.
Haha, you’re joking right?! Please tell me you don’t honestly think it’s possible to clear the national debt in 8 years

Well now, we've had a Democrat Congress for close to two years; you know, the people that do the spending and create the budget???

So what are the Democrats willing to give up that will bring down the deficit or perhaps the debt? Oh sure, they are willing to cut things the Republicans want like a strong military or perhaps tax cuts, but what will their sacrifices be?

My prediction? Now a Fn thing. In fact, the people who are currently in charge of our budget are talking about free college, national healthcare, paid leave from work, reparations.......

Under Trump, spending is out of control. If Democrats take leadership, imagine how much more out of control it will be then.

Democrat spending is designed to create more government dependents. Say what you will about Trump, but his ideas are to benefit the country, not the party.
Okay let’s pretend the democrats had no control over the budget. Are you actually suggesting republicans could eliminate that debt in 8 years?

Except that only the house is controlled by dems and it hasn't even been 9 whole months yet. Do not let facts get in your way, oh wait you never have!

Poor Donny. Nobody plays fair with him. It is enough to make one wonder if being a multi billionaire is worth it.

Where are all those Republicans voted in on a Teaparty platform?

They always voted NO when Democrats asked for money

I don't think so, but first we need a balanced budget before we do anything. Here is the problem:

For Republicans to get a bill passed, they need Democrats to go along with it. In many cases, it works the other way around as well.

When the government shuts down, the MSM blames the Republicans no matter who they are: the House, the Senate, the President. When was the last time you seen anybody blame the Democrats for a government shutdown?

So Republicans feel pressured into giving Democrats most everything they want. At the same time, they also don't want to let their constituency down either, so they have to give us what we want too.

There you have it, an out of control spending problem. And this is why I say the only way to control it is if people feel the pressure instead of putting all the pressure on the officials. That's why we need a deficit/ debt consumption tax. Let everybody know what their desires cost us, not just the wealthy. If we all had to pay, we'd all agree to making cuts to wasteful spending, and perhaps get back to personal responsibility once again in this country.

No. He is totally trying to benefit the party.

No. He is totally trying to benefit the party.

In what way? Liberal run businesses benefited just as Republican ran businesses. Many of the little people who benefited most are renown Democrat voters.

He's doing what's best for everybody, not just his base.

Our wonderful Pres. Trump is the best thing to happen to this country in decades.

He deserves to be praised and admired by all citizens for his unselfish service and dedication to the nation.

Only miscreants and malcontents will deny this fact. ....
There is something seriously psychologically wrong with you.

“We’re putting in a resolution some time in the next week and a half to two weeks [and] we’re giving a middle-income tax reduction of about 10 percent,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “This is not for business, this is for middle income, and that’s on top of the tax decrease that we’ve already given them.”

The date of that remark, Oct. 22, 2018, seventeen days before the election.

Trump told Republican lawmakers Thursday that "sometime this year," he will announce a "substantial tax cut for middle-income folks who work so hard."

"We are working on a tax cut for the middle-income people that is going to be very, very inspirational," the president told House Republicans at their annual retreat in Baltimore. "It's going to be something that -- I think it's what everyone's really looking for."

When will his base ever learn? Well, part of the problem is, they ignore reality they know they won't like.

That would explain why they still believe everything Trump tells them.

As this graph shows, most recessions occur during Republican administrations.

It amazes me why Wall Street likes Republicans.

What we need are more tax cuts for the billionaires to increase the revenues coming in.

That pesky old debt will be paid off in no time.

Trump's oft used tactic is called truthful hyperbole. It is evident in nearly everything he says. He defines truthful hyperbole in this way.

The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration — and a very effective form of promotion.

Of course, with his over 12,000 lies since he became President, Trump has gone far beyond "innocent form of exaggeration." https://beta.washingtonpost.com/pol...as-made-false-or-misleading-claims-over-days/

The perfect example of truthful hyperbole were the two ludicrous campaign promises mentioned below.

"Trump will eliminate the $19 trillion national debt “over a period of eight years," or so he said. This may have come right after Trump promised that Mexico would build a wall for us and paying for it."

These promises were far removed from reality, and it is difficult to understand how any American voter could believe them. It's like a liberal candidate for President promising free health care, free college tuition, and a raise of $200/Mo from Social Security if elected. No one in his/her right mind would believe such promises.

But Trump's base did. They voted him into office. Perhaps it has something to do with education.

According to a recent ABC/WSJ poll, among white non-college men Trump's approval rating is 67% vs. Democrats, 22%. In all other categories involving men, women, and college Trump is behind the Democrats, especially among college educated women. In the latter category, Democrats lead Trump 63% to 30%. However, among non-college-educated white women, a group Trump carried by 27 points in 2016 exit polls, he is now trailing.

Trump is losing America’s suburbs, and his base of support is rural. Trump is losing ground in America's suburbs

Maybe that explains it.
