It sounds like asylum would be pretty much impossible to get for kids, for 8 months while the government does its thing...
Remember the 90 days for the State Department to "figure out what the hell is going on?" I think we're now at the two year point and they haven't figured it out yet. So be wary on this "eight month" thing.
