Transformers vs. G.I. Joe is an ongoing comic book series published by IDW Publishing. It represents the first crossover between the two brands since IDW gained control of both licenses, and takes place in a separate continuity unrelated to either of the "main" universes the company has developed for the 'bots and Joes. The series is distinguished by its retro-styled artwork and storytelling, emulating the look and feel of the Silver Age of Comic Books (source of summary: Wikipedia).

"Transformers vs. G.I. Joe" (IDW) #1 presents an exciting introduction story in which the patriotic American soldiers called G.I. Joes prepare to welcome an alien robot species called Transformers landing on Earth, but intentions are hostile. Operation Coltonbolt is engaged by the G.I. Joes to handle the evil Decepticon Transformers (as the valiant Autobot Transformers do likewise), and the Joe adversary, the sinister Baroness of Cobra becomes an evil Serpentress.

The drawings are simple, colorful, and dynamic, and the dialogue is witty and straightforward.

G.I. Joe (Hasbro) is a well-known paramilitary fantasy-adventure franchise adapted into Hollywood (USA) movies, and Transformers (Hasbro) is a well-known A.I. (Artificial Intelligence robotics) action-adventure franchise also adapted into Hollywood (USA) movies.

This combination exercise is fun and indicates the sort of cross-genre trending that creates allure for various multi-avatar video games and the upcoming Superman-Batman duel film.

"Transformers vs. G.I. Joe" (IDW) #1 is neither stellar nor mediocre, and it does a nice job in spotlighting kamikaze comic book thematics in a cartoon format.
