We all know Black Sabbath and Motorhead were big influences on Metallica.
Metallica did a great job re-working Diamondhead songs.
Someone told me many years ago that Metallica "copied" Judas Priest music, ...I thought that was crazy.

If you listen to Judas Priest's, Sad Wings Of Destiny, you'll hear where Kill 'Em All come from.
(though Dave Mustaine)

Metallica released great albums,
Kill 'Em All
Ride The Lightning
Master of Puppets
(Garage Days)
...and to a lesser extent, All Justice For All

Now that Mustaine and Burton are gone, Hetfield's obsession with Glen Danzig goes berserk.
If you listen to the music on The Black Album, Hetfield tries to copy Danzig.
The music takes a similar one-line riff like the "Danzig" album, and Hetfield writes titles like "of wolf and man"

Metallica cuts their hair.
Hammet says "Metallica was never about the hair"
yeah well, the fact that they all decided to cut their hair at the same time, kinda lame

Metallica is a goner at this point.
They still have the ability to write a good song occasionally.

Death Magnetic was a good attempt, but still not very good.

why?
too much money.
listen to their interviews, they sound crazy.
They can't relate to the real world anymore.
