10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,
11 And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;
12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;
13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

- Deuteronomy 21, KJV

So according to God we can kidnap women in wars, force them to marry us, and if after raping them we don't want them afterall kick em out to go on their merry way. And we can have more than one wife.

Funny, seem to recall ISIS catching a lot of grief for doing what our own Bibles say to do? Musta been the atheists complaining huh?

20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

- Exodus 22, KJV

Not only are there other deities, but if you worship one you should be killed. So much for freedom of religion.

At least Muslims have 'there shall be no compulsion in religion.' True, they're not very good about actually doing it, but at least it's there.

"Allah says: “Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth has been made clear from error. Whoever rejects false worship and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that never breaks. And Allah hears and knows all things.” [Sûrah al-Baqarah: 256]"

10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
- Leviticus 20, KJV

Funny how we never hear about this one.

It is easy to distinguish the actual law of God from laws men claim have God's authority and permission. Would any good man wish to be treated in the way man's law says it is okay to treat women? Would any man wish to see his mother or sister treated this way?

God's law: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind. Love your fellow man as yourself.

So, how long has it been since Christians operated by these Old Testament rules?

There are really only 2 religions:

(1) You worship God
(2) You worship yourself

That's all there is really.

Trouble there is who now has authority to differentiate between God and Man in the Bible?

Think we could find numerous examples of Christians in the US following their Bibles literally. Hear about on the news pretty regularly like this church that beat a kid to death for wanting to leave the church.

Christianity is not the contemporary problem. Islam is.

Seemed a problem when the FLDS was doing things the Bible said to do. Seemed a problem in Waco with the Branch Davidians. Seemed a problem just recently with a church beating to death a boy because he wanted to leave the church.

That was kind of evasive.

How long has it been since it was widespread practice for Christians to kidnap women in warfare to force to be their wives, and/or second wives as per your op?

Want me to get some news items from African conflict zones with Christians doing exactly this, or take my word for it it happens?

THose Christians are not really representative of modern Christians.

"One summer night in 2001, Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) guerrillas snatched Apoko from a community center near her home in Gulu district, Uganda. Notorious for their cold-blooded cruelty, the LRA beat her, tortured her.

She chooses not to discuss all the details but says this: if she didn't do what the LRA told her, she knew she would die.

Apoko's tale, sadly, is not uncommon. She is among thousands of children abducted by the LRA.

Yet her pleas, and the pleas of all others who have tried to put an end to the abuse and killings committed by the LRA, have fallen largely on deaf years, she says.

As she awaits her final round of surgery in Austin, Texas, Apoko is glad that the LRA-instigated conflict, the longest running in Africa, finally made headlines this year.

She rejoiced in President Barack Obama's decision last week to send 100 U.S. military advisers to the Central African Republic to help hunt down LRA leaders. And she rebuked conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who lambasted Obama and defended the LRA as Christians aiming to remove dictatorship."
Ugandan woman recalls harrowing tale of captivity - CNN.com

"Central African Republic: Muslims Held Captive, Raped by Christian Militia

One young woman, about 18 years old, said she had been raped by multiple anti-balaka fighters during her captivity. “I was taken as a wife by the anti-balaka,” she said. “It was against my will, I did not want to accept it. It was not just one man, it was with many different men. They would just take me. They brutalized me and I am now pregnant.”

The victim’s sister, who is about 20, was raped repeatedly during her captivity by one anti-balaka fighter who had claimed her as his “wife.”"

Funny, when we say that about terrorists using Islam people reject it. So why shouldn't we reject here with Christians the bad guys?

It looks like the point here is -- they're there if you want them, regardless what time it is. Point being, if you're going to claim "Muslims are commanded by their book to ... kill, be evil, whatever", then you can't simultaneously ignore that Christians get the same kind of commands in their book from the same primitive period. Whether either one is actually acted out or not, they are there.

--- Which ultimately means, these aren't the black/white, good/evil, cops/robbers dichotomy some wags like to pretend they are in order to dehumanize, and we are a lot more alike than we are different.

Trouble there is who now has authority to differentiate between God and Man in the Bible?

I majored in communications, and in those years I discovered something interesting because comments had to be attributed to a source. So whether reading or writing, whenever I came across the words, "According to...." I would replace the name with "Donald Duck." This brought about one of two reactions in my mind: Yeah, sounds like something a duck would say." Or, "Wow, that's an intelligent duck."

While this technique started with newspaper and magazine reading, it carried over to Bible studies. I concluded (as the saying goes) "If it waddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it was probably thought up by man..." (Or something to that effect. )

I also began reading everything about God from the perspective that God is pure love. Anything that was not pure love adds up to man; that which is pure love to God. I often think that if mankind could grasp the pure love of God, this world would then begin to change into a very different place. We don't trust God's love--not enough.

So why have a Bible in the first place if much of it is decidely not-love?

Seemed a problem when the FLDS was doing things the Bible said to do. Seemed a problem in Waco with the Branch Davidians. Seemed a problem just recently with a church beating to death a boy because he wanted to leave the church.

You've got to be kidding, or insane. There is no degree of comparison to the wholesale execution of Christians and the constancy of global terrorism perpetrated by the Islamists, and their obvious intent to overwhelm and undermine the West by sheer numbers.

At least, again, not to any rational mind.

More Muslims killed by Christians. Way more. If you're unaware of this fact the only insane one around here is you. Why don't ya go google 'us sanctions iraq' sometime if you're so confident of your innocence?
