So...spoilers ahead for anyone who wants to see the new "Halloween" movie...

Laurie, the victim of the first movie has been preparing for the return of the guy who murdered all of her friends......so what guns does she choose.....a lever action rifle, a pump action shotgun, revolvers and a bolt action rifle for her estranged daughter.....

So..if you were expecting a visit from this guy, and prepared your home in great detail to fight him...why on earth would you use a lever action rifle? As she is moving around the house, the barrel leads her through the door and she has to use one hand to hold a flashlight......( as an aside..you would think she would have had a light switch and enough lighting in the house to make the flashlight unnecessary). Had she used an AR-15, she would have had 30 rounds over the 10 rounds in the lever action rifle. Also, she could have had an attacked flashlight and even a laser site, freeing her hands up to use the rifle. On top of that, the need to use the lever to load another round into the weapon meant that shooting and missing in close quarters made it more likely she would be rushed before she could fire again......

For someone who spent her adult life preparing for the guy, she chose the least optimum weapon for the job...

If it was Michael Myers vs. Crazy Uncle Joe Biden with his shotgun, my money would be on Myers.

My choice is a lever 1992 with Chuck Conners behind it...

I think either the mother or the daughter was shown being taught to shoot one of the rifles, so familiarity would probably play a part. And if I recall, there was a case full of various long-barrelled guns shown at one point. Yeah, different weapons might have been better, but the writers/director may have thought that changing from one gun type to another would look cool. :dunno:
