The First Slave Owner in America was Black

The Muslim world is still HEAVILY engaged in human trafficking and slavery.

But morons would still much rather pretend it's present day white Republicans (who historically speak out against slavery, and always have) who are to blame.

Muslims get a kind of sermon each Friday in mosques-----
the sermon is generally directed more like a "we are better than them" pep rally than the typical church sermon of
"you guys are sinners"-----or the synagogue news commentary. One of the mosque Friday things is
ISLAM ABOLISHED SLAVERY ------believe it or not-----
another claim is "muhummad invented the NOVEL CONCEPT of "freeing slaves"------no one thought of that
new idea before muhummad came up with it.

What's normally pointed out is that the slavery in the Americas was based on race. In other societies when a slave was freed, they became full members of society, not second class. That's why we're still feeling it's effects and why those who ignore it are trashed.

So that makes it alright? Historically slavery had been the result of war, criminality, debt or religion. What makes American slavery different is the race aspect. In Africa blacks had been enslaving other blacks for centuries. Regardless of the anecdote in the OP, the white population readily accepted that Africans could be slaves, while no whites were, and treated them as second class citizens even after manumission. That's the lesson of slavery in the Americas, NOT the oddities to which the apologists love to cling.

Actually, there were many white indentured servants (aka, slaves) during British colonial rule.

Indentured servants weren't slaves. They may have been treated like slaves by some, but there was a foreseeable end to their servitude that true slaves did not enjoy.

Yes it is true that there was, in most cases, a foreseeable end to their servitude. That doesn't negate the fact that many were treated no less harshly than slaves were.

Oh really? How can that be? The evil white man only had indentured servants who had to be set free after their time was up. It was a black man who wanted a forever slave.

And, another big surprise – by 1830 there were 3,775 black families living in the south who owned slaves!

What do you liberals have to say about that?

Maybe so, but he didn't beat/rape his slaves, and talk of liberty and freedom, like the founding fathers.

True perhaps, but not the point of my post. Slavery in the Americas was different because of the race issue. White indentured servants were treated the same as other citizens after their period of servitude was over. Black slaves, however, were not, even after they were given their freedom.

Erm, the U.S.A. did not exist in 1654.

Indeed. Nor did Liberals.

The first slave owner in the New World was Christopher Columbus, who enslaved the indigenous population. His Spanish compatriots who followed did likewise and worse.
Wrong the first slave owners in the new world were native Americans. Fact. They made slaves of their prisoners.

Does this little historical tid bit lighten the burden of your white guilt?

Does this little historical tid bit lighten the burden of your white guilt?

I have absolutely NO guilt for anything that happened long before I was born, has been around since Man first walked upright and used tools, and IS STILL around today! As it occurs in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, the Lame Street Media completely ignores it.

And Libtards like you act like it still doesn't exist.

No doubt you can find many other historic factoids to justify your racism.

So until you read this article you thought all slave owners were white . How does it feel to be up to speed, just by the way, in case it wasn't covered in the article, there were black slave traders as well.

Indentured servant is a bit different than being a slave, usually, these days anyway, it's a contract entered into voluntarily.

Who gives a shit now.

It is over.

Way past time for everybody to get over it.

Like trying to name a smart Republican.

The actual decision on this is not closed yet.

Whether they were indentured servants or slaves is not clear.

What is clear is that the slave owners were overwhelmingly white in the colonies and later in the states, and slave owners of color were never, ever anywhere the social equal of whites.

a single case -----is an accident----two is a coincidence------three begins to be a "series"-----------for doctors a single case is an anecdote----two cases is
"in my experience" and three is----"case after case after case" ---in sum---I am not impressed in any way with the 'first' story
