The sole object of all the trials mentioned in Scripture is to teach man what he ought to do or believe; so that the event which forms the actual trial is not the end desired, but an example for our instruction and guidance.

have you ever thought to wake it up the christian bible to bring it to a living state worth mentioning as a religious document and not as a disguised political agenda it presently represents ... the messiah has to save you from yourself - really, you are that superstitious.

the other two desert religions the same, awaken from being dead.
Actually religion is just a tool. The average man needs to be instructed that there is one God, that He has created everything that exists beside Him, and that neither the constellations nor anything in the air ought to be worshiped.

Christianity teaches that we can change our minds. The Greek word for repent is "metanoia." Metanoia means to change your mind. Our thoughts, the flow of consciousness which determines our behaviors, can change. Metanoia has to do with moral activity, but goes beyond that. Jesus was teaching that we could change our mind about how we treat people. We don’t have to be unforgiving and cynical. We can change our mind about being negative. We can think positive thoughts and walk in faith instead of doubt. We can change our minds about sin. Rather than being caught in the strongholds of consistent habits of lust or selfishness, for example, we can experience freedom and selflessness. Jesus would not have told us to change unless it was possible and attainable. The Bible is full of words that speak about change. Repentance, metamorphosis, transformation, conversion, resurrection, rebirth, renewal, regeneration, healing and transfiguration.

We have chosen the better portion. You can't take it from us. The truth will always defeat you.
Actually religion is just a tool.

There have always been some who perceived God more clearly than others. Men like Abraham, who received a large measure of prophetic inspiration, called their fellow-men together and led them by training and instruction to the truth which they had perceived. The prophets before and after Moses taught their fellow-men in the manner of preachers, teachers, and pedagogues. But only Moses used phrases such, "And God said to me, Speak to certain people so and so."

The average man needs to be instructed that there is one God, that He has created everything that exists beside Him, and that neither the constellations nor anything in the air ought to be worshiped.

You worldview of do no evil as the only instruction given is less than worthless because it does not even attempt to discuss the complexities inherent in experiencing life as a being who knows and creates and has free will to do good or not to do good.

ID advocates employ an array of deceptive argumentation strategies:

  • They exaggerate the challenge they pose to accepted science (evolution is “a theory in deep crisis”; there is “overwhelming evidence for design”), then demand that educators “teach the controversy.”
  • They portray themselves as a persecuted minority criticized for their identities rather than their ideas, then point out that their opponents are “atheist,” “secular humanists,” and members of an entrenched “scientific orthodoxy.”
  • As Kenneth Miller, biologist and leading critic of ID has observed, ID proponents “avoid scientific meetings like the plague” in favor of educational or pop culture debates — “they’d rather try to convince schoolchildren than adult scientists who are prepared to rebut and refute the evidence.”

repeating yourself does not make you any better than the first time you made the attempt - especially the ending as an illiterate rendering of the religion of antiquity - do you ever follow your own advice, at any rate now you know.

You don't like the FLOOD.
Haha...what? Did you mean to say, i don't accept that silly myth? I actually think it is a cute bit of fiction. An "allegory", as ding would say. For what, i have no idea... Learn to swim, maybe?

Sin doesn't exist. It is a magical, childish idea that is an artifact of terrified, ignorant, superstitious people from the iron age.

That's pretty funny coming from you.

Throughout our nation's history, churches have done what no government can ever do, namely teach morality and civility. Moral and civil individuals are largely governed by their own sense of right and wrong, and hence have little need for external government. This is the real reason the collectivist Left hates religion: Churches as institutions compete with the state for the people's allegiance, and many devout people put their faith in God before putting their faith in the state. Knowing this, the secularists wage an ongoing war against religion, chipping away bit by bit at our nation's Christian heritage.

No one is innocent before THE ALMIGHTY GOD.

This Atheist's conclusion is wrong. The Bible does permit a form of slavery. It is basically an employer and employee relationship. The employer houses and feeds the the slave and cares for the slave. The slave in turn works for the master. After a period of time the slave must decide if he wishes to remain a slave of his master or if he will leave. That is what a bond servant is.

An employer makes a contract and says to his employee, that he will pay X number of dollars an hour, and maybe provide healthcare, and maybe a pension. For this the employee agrees to work hard and do what he is told. In the Bible the words employer and employee do not exist. People back then understood only the Master and Slave. Whomever one worked for was the Master and the one doing the work was the Slave.

Such is the prescription for a maladjusted personality. To presume you are base and evil and thus need to cower before angry gods is emotionally / psychologically damaging.

An employer / employee is a contract. It is an exchange for payment for receipt of a service. If you have ever held a job before, it’s a pretty simple concept.

As is slavery. Simple, that is. Not a mutually agreed upon or signed contract.. A wee bit of supremacism rationalized with "God" likes my kind best lunacy seems all that's required.

Does the Bible Condone Slavery?
There is no doubt that the Bible has been used to justify horrible atrocities throughout history, including slavery and racism.
Why,.. yes. It does. Yes, indeedy!
What?
So Jesus never actually comes right out and condemns institutionalized slavery.. ever..
So what?
Absence of explicit condemnation provides no evidence of approval!
Plus he clearly thought the Egyptians were doing it all wrong..
'Cause they were all mean and dirty and stuff!

"As my ancestors are free from slavery, I am free from the slavery of religion."

Although she was raised a Christian, she began to question the value of organized religion as a child. She related one eye-opening experience with clergy as a youngster, when she was riding a train to New York and offered to share her lunch with two young preachers. Instead of taking "one sandwich and one piece of cake, they took the whole thing."

"If we had put the energy on earth and on people that we put on mythology and on Jesus Christ, we wouldn't have any hunger or homelessness."

Are you free indeed? DO you drink to excess? Must you smoke? DO you take illicit drugs? Are you involved in sexual lust outside the bonds of biblical matrimony? Are you a glutton? Do you find it necessary to hoard material possessions? Are you committed to gambling (cards, sports, bingo, The Lottery)? They are all forms of slavery.

How do you imagine guys end up on the street? Is it by doing their homework, listening to parents, going to church, and saving one's money. Or do people usually end up on the street by seeking after cheep pleasures, ignoring authority, and looking for the easy way out..?

Slavery is just as prevalent today as it was a century and a half ago. It just is observed differently.

For this the employee agrees to work hard and do what he is told. In the Bible the words employer and employee do not exist. People back then understood only the Master and Slave. Whomever one worked for was the Master and the one doing the work was the Slave.

An employer / employee is a contract. It is an exchange for payment for receipt of a service. If you have ever held a job before, it’s a pretty simple concept.

So was that of a bondsman. The bondsman made a contract to work for the master for a set period of time, in order to gain an agreed upon payment. In some cases it would be learning a trade. In others it was to marry the daughter as in the story of Jacob. At other times it was for some cattle, sheep, or goats. In the EARLY colonial days, many Englishmen worked for a master who paid their ship passage to the New World. And they needed to do this until the money it took to get them there was paid and then some... They call that interest today.

Not to change the subject; however, the original interest paid to "passbook" accounts before the 1970's was 1%. And one could open such an account for $1.00. After one year that person would have $1.01. Sounds so very small; however, the average bank accounts earn .5% today (or less), and one needs to open the account for far more than $1.00 ----- and if the amount falls below the threshold ------- NO INTEREST IS PAID!
