Seriously Republicans - is this the way you're going to handle race from now on?

This is how Republicans handle race in politics now, and how it will likely continue to be handled by them in the future.

Step 1: When someone is appointed or elected to high office in this land and they are a minority Democrat,
a) immediately accuse them of being racist and
b) accuse anyone who supports them of being racist and
c) accuse them of only supporting that person because of their race.
Step 2: Repeat Step 2.

Probably yes.

They are after all, appealing to their base whose instincts, as we can so often see from the postings here, are rather base.
wow, you buying into that fucking moronic trash?

Nice Try--LOL- Joe Biden stated that the only reason Clarence Thomas was nominated to the Supreme court was because he was BLACK! A "racist" comment coming from the Vice President of the United States.:clap2:

The democrat party attacked every single minority that was appointed to G.W. Bush's administration--including federal court nominees. Look at what they did to Miquel Estrada!

Finally--Sotomayor--Barack Obama's nominee to the Supreme court stated herself: "Because of the "richness" of a minorty Latino women--that she is a better judge than a white man." Then the handleing of the Fire Deparment test where 20 white's & latino's studied hard to pass a test & she threw it out of court because no black person passed the test.

Guaranteed--if she was nominated by a republican administration--democrats would be having a total fit right now. She would have already been "disqualified", based upon a racist--sexist statement. So--when you work hard to achieve a promotion in the future & she is more interested in "quota's" & you get turned down because of her believe in quota's versus individual achievement.- Remember you voted for it.

I'm fairly certain that Biden wasn't Vice President at any point during the Thomas hearings, but since I'm a moron, I could be wrong.

Its good you point out that Republicans present strategy of handling race isn't original.

Uhh, no, she never said that. Not sure where you got that. Are you aware that when you use the little "'s around a statement, and attribute that statement to somebody, you're supposed to put the exact words that person spoke between the "'s - and not a paraphrasing of what they said?

Guaranteed--if she was nominated by a republican administration--democrats would be having a total fit right now.

its amazing how righties can divine the hypothetical present, even in the face of facts which do not support their divination.

1) She was nominated by a Republican, to the district court, in 1991, and confirmed by a majority Democratic Senate

2) She was nominated by a Democrat to the appeals court and, in 1997, and confirmed by a majority Republican Senate

3) She was mentioned by the Senate Democrats as a person that would be an acceptable nominee to them to fill the seat vacated by O'Connor in 2005. You're suggesting that the Democrats wanted Bush to nominate her - a Democrat - just so they could block the nomination?

Can you even name a SINGLE case in which a Republican President nominated a democrat to the Supreme Court and the democrats fought it?

She would have already been "disqualified", based upon a racist--sexist statement she made herself.

She didn't make any racist--sexist statements.

If it is...it's on both sides of the isle. The democrats aren't above the frey...but knowing how you work, you won't address that little secret.

I don't think anyone is above the fray. I used to work for someone who said "politics is a full contact team sport". I suspect he was correct about that.

That said, I've found Obama not to mind ticking off his base.... he didn't exactly nominate a lefty to the court and isn't exactly making the pacifists happy.

As far as racial issues, I'm afraid it's pretty clear that the moderate voices in the republican party, the ones who have no racial issues and couldn't care less about the color of your skin so long as you see the world the way they do, are being drowned out by wackjobs who say they don't want to pronounce Judge Sotomayor's name properly because of "angst" over non-english speaking people; by nutters who scream that she's a racist because she belongs to an organization that seeks to level the playing field for others who come from her background; and by people who call a justice who has 300 written appellate decisions and who was valdictorian of her high school class and who graduated number 2 at princeton, an "affirmative action" appointment... that's pretty disgusting. And the only people that's designed to attract are racists. It does little to advance the republican agenda; does little to open the tent to diverse groups and is pretty counterproductive given how the electoral map looks. Do you really want to kiss Arizona, Texas, Florida and Colorado goodbye?

that scumbag piece of shit called Joe Biden couldn't even look Judge Thomas in the face.. "publicly lynched him" and the hypocrites called demowcats elected him as VP so they can shove their cries of Republican racism right up their stinky old azzes.

Thomas had neither the intellectual credentials or judicial experience to qualify him for the bench. In fact, he's probably the least qualified person appointed to the bench in my lifetime.

He was payback for Bork not getting chosen... and he never would have been picked, under any set of circumstances had he not been black.

Judge Sotomayor was picked because she DOES have the judicial chops. Her ethnicity is just a bonus if we're talking about a "first". And, given the population of the country, is appointment of a latina so terrible? especially an accomplished latina.

And the extra added bonus is it ticks off racists. So that kind of makes me smile a little. I hate racist trash.

Here's a comparison

Experience as Federal District Court Judge at time of nomination:
Thomas : 0 years
Sotomayor : 6 years

Experience as Federal District Court Judge at time of nomination:
Thomas: 2 years
Sotomayor : over 10 years

They both graduated yale law, though. I don't see how you can argue Thomas didn't have the intellectual credentials. Sotomayor has 8 times as much experience as a federal judge as he did, though.

You people remind me of a bunch of little kids argueing about whose is bigger.
Don't you see what is happening to our country? Are you blind or really that petty and stupid? Now that the Dems are in office and in power" It's payback time". Just look at Pelosi and Reed in the congress.
The other side was just as bad when they were in charge.
Its all about getting mine first and fuck you .
The petty arguements about race is just a smokescreen to obscure the fact that the socialists have taken over. They want to keep you watching the left hand while the right hand steals your childrens future.
GROW SOME BALLS and stand up to them. Its not about whose party is best. They both stink.
I get so sick of people bitching about how the last adminastration screwed it all up. Well, let me tell you something , Its been screwed up since Eisenhower.
And it is just getting worse every year.
If you want this country to turn into another USSR just keep bickering about how poor Obama is being discrimanated against or how the Hispanic woman is not a raging racist and will do everything in her power to "right every wrong done to hispanics in the last 75 years." Oh and don't forget the fact that she is rabidly anti 2nd Amendment. Just keep up the petty crap and pretty soon you won't have to worry about anything. Big Sister will take care of everything for you.
end of transmission.

Jillian that was one of the dumbest comments I have ever heard you make

go back in time----she's got some doozies that may make you rethink that.

why is it always the morons who feel the need to insult me?

It's kind of amusing... if ironic.

Then maybe you can expalin how the race of a Supreme court judge is any kind of a bonus ? Do you know why that statue representing justice is wearing a blindfold ? Hint--- She ain't playing pin the tail on the donkey

Oh I quite understand how the DEMS manipulate the latent racism and sexism of their team nitwits.

I am after all a White MAN who had to deal with their idiocy in real life often enough.

It's just that that stupidity just doesn't manifest quite so often on this board, as the anti-Black, anti-Jew, Anti-minority anit-liberal caracature nonsense that is the daily fare served up here by four of five of our fellow residents.

The NAZI tag teaming posting here keeps this place fairly rightest.

I've bitched on this board about the stupidity of the density of the extremeist liberals often enough.

If you missed it, know that I find the trustifarian anti-working class arrogance of the so called liberals (who are anything but real liberals) even more repugnant that most of the more overt racism of the right.

At least most of the resident NAZIs don't PRETEND not to be racists.

Their honesty is actually their most charming aspect.

When I encounter a racist liberal and I call them on it in real life, they naturally assume that I'm a brownshirt.

Of course the fact that I look like posterboy for the SS doesn't help my cause, either.

Lets just say I do not apologise to ANYONE for having a dick and balls and white skin, either.

hello ! Why don't you point out one republican anywhere including this board who brought up sotomayor's race and gender before she did// Who made it a big deal??? she???? or the Republicans.. we'll wait..

This is going to bite them in the ass. Bye Bye to whatever latino votes you were getting.

Hispanics/Latino's are conservative by nature. They are anti abortion and fiscally conservative. The GOP is blowing it with them!!! And I love it!!! :clap2:

So you believe this will make them fiscally non-conservative now, and that is a good thing?

...anytime someone criticized obama, they were branded a racist...

No they weren't. The above "fact" is something the Republican party completely made up. In fact I bet you'd be hard pressed to come up with a single example of it happening - let alone be able to show that "anytime" it happened they were branded a racist.

Why do Republicans insist on arguing with "facts" that are conjured out of thin air i.e. NOT TRUE?

"sotomayor brought her race up, not the republicans."

What the fuck are you even talking about?

You're making a good point. I remember more of the mainstream media pointing out the race of Obama far more than the right ever did. They were so proud to have a "black" president. The focus on race in this last election was purely driven by the left.

As for Sotomayor bringing up her race, you REALLY should pay more attention to what she has said in the past few days. Her quote was as follows:

“a wise Latina woman” will often make better decisions than a white man.

No racial overtone? I think you should read it again.
