The libs were briefed and approved until they decided they could benefit politically from criticizing the CIA and Bush

In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included currentHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA's overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.

Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.

"The briefer was specifically asked if the methods were tough enough," said a U.S. official who witnessed the exchange.

Congressional leaders from both parties would later seize on waterboarding as a symbol of the worst excesses of the Bush administration's counterterrorism effort. The CIA last week admitted that videotape of an interrogation of one of the waterboarded detainees was destroyed in 2005 against the advice of Justice Department and White House officials, provoking allegations that its actions were illegal and the destruction was a coverup
.

Yet long before "waterboarding" entered the public discourse, the CIA gave key legislative overseers about 30 private briefings

Hill Briefed on Waterboarding in 2002

At issue here, are not approved "interrogation" methods, but rather the CIA going far beyond their powers and flouting the authority that they were bestowed with, in order to "protect" the United States.

The CIA are the ones that put our troops in harms way, not the people who reported it.
The CIA saved American lives you're a moorn:uhoh3:

"The dungeon
The CIA began the establishment of a specialised detention centre, codenamed DETENTION SITE COBALT, in April 2002. Although its location is not identified in the report it has been widely identified as being in Afghanistan. Conditions at the site were described in the report as poor 'and were especially bleak early in the program'.

"The CIA chief of interrogations described COBALT as 'a dungeon'.

"There were 20 cells, with blacked-out windows.

"Detainees were 'kept in complete darkness and constantly shackled in isolated cells with loud music and only a bucket to use for human waste'.

"It was cold, something the report says likely contributed to the death of a detainee.

"Prisoners were walked around naked or were shackled with their hands above their heads for extended periods of time..."
Now you know why they hate US.

Rectal rehydration and broken limbs the grisliest findings in the CIA torture report US news The Guardian
OMG!! The horror of it all:slap:

I truly believe that the united states crossed the line here and needs to be held accountable.

Is it dangerous to declassify this information? Absolutely; just as it was dangerous to engage in torture in the first place. Unless we fix this debacle though, we are destined to repeat our own blunders.

The real prescription should be for the US to stay they hell out of foreign affairs - you know, like our founding fathers wanted us to.

You're an idiot. We need intelligence in order to stop attacks before they happen. Our foreign policy should be to do what in the best interest of this country and our allies, not to withdrawal into isolationism so our enemies our adversaries can fill the void .You don't make any sense. Obama is the only "leader" who doesn't do whats in the best interest of his own country. Which is why our enemies are on the move.
When sleep deprivation is called torture, the sheeple will buy anything.

This is all about Feinstein getting her feelings hurt, and her willingness to put people at risk to vent her vindictiveness.

When somebody shows me American soldiers beheading hostages, I will start to worry a little bit.

Fuckers whining about waterboarding, and sleep deprivation, taunting, etc would sing a different tune if their child was beheaded, or died in a terror attack.

Fuckin' hypocrites.
Then why the opposition to releasing the data?

If there is nothing that is particularly bad then who cares? Apparently we have opposing thoughts here.

You made an interesting point, although I'm not sure you meant to

We are fighting a foe that thinks nothing of killing civilians, not as secondary damage, but as primary targets. This creates fear, that is why they're called terrorists after all.

Our foe takes innocents into custody and not only tortures them, but then lopes their heads off and posts the beheadings on the internet. Again, creating terror.

This is no different than Genghis Khan did centuries ago to make the conquered submit without much of a fight.

Hell, release the report, but continue the activity. If the foes only fear is that, if captured they get a bed and free meals, they win
That will not accomplish anything.

Look, our foes do far worse but then again so what? I don't care what our foes do - that does NOT dictate our behavior. I don't feel sorry for the terrorists that were interrogated as they are some of the worst trash in existence. That, however, has nothing to do with keeping those events secrete. Government secrecy is not a sign of a free society and the demands that this report not surface are pathetic attempts to protect the government from scrutiny. THAT is absolutely unacceptable in my book. Release the report already, make good on this idea of transparency. It sickens me that so many that claim to be anti-big controlling government suddenly want to proclaim that the government does not need to reveal its practices or have any oversight of them.

Further, this idea that such a report is endangering anyone is laughable at best. Will we go into a higher alert right after its release? Of course. Just like we do around 9/11, most major Muslim holidays and a host of other occasions. Those that are our enemies don't care about truth, honor, integrity or life. If we dint release anything they are not going to stop their plans or suddenly stop recruiting. If we release the report, they are going to do exactly the same thing as if we didn't.

"Torture" is also not going to scare them either. These are people that are willing to strap a bomb on their ass and blow themselves up. The ONLY thing that is going to stop them is death. The real reason to oppose such actions as we have taken is that they are unequivocally ineffective. I don't see a whit of evidence that we were ever able to gain a single piece of actionable information out of any torture method. That alone should be enough to oppose the practice.

If the Right continues to have their way, someday we will all wake up and realize that that there is no longer any difference between them and us. The Right will then continue to claim that we are "right" and they are "wrong", and the liberals will ask, "How can you tell"? The Right will then throw out "freedom", "liberty", "god", and a whole lot of other buzz words, and the enemy will do the same, and we will just turn into a whole planet that will be the same as the Irish and British, who have hated each other for over 400 years.

Hurrah for our side.......

I blame the terrorists for their attack on America and will support anything that prevents it from happening again. Do you really think that the Islamist jihadists kill Christians because the CIA used enhanced interrogation methods?

I am telling you, you are wasting your time trying to use logic on these fucking pathetic American hating deranged hypocritical pawns.

There is only one reason this was brought up AGAIN 12 years after it happened to these 3 sandniggers. That was to take the media attention away from the testimony of Gruber.

Again, for political expediency, the American hating darling of the left plays Russian roulette with our citizens. Incites and raises the anger of our enemies. There are reasons why things are kept classified. National security is the one main reason.

Does not fucking matter to this contrived piece of community organizing, Saul Alinsky following shit in the White House. His whole reason for living is to take down the America he grew up despising, just like the rest of the godless academic elite on the left.

Trying to be logical with the hopelessly brainwashed pawns of the democratic left wing pigs is a total waste of our time. Just insult them with utter disrespect. Do it for the pieces of shit they all are.

You're a Terrorist sympathizer and don't care if YOU OR YOU PARTY hurts us and our country. you are UN-American and a pos

It is not that they do not care, it is what they want. Meaning anything that makes America, white righties, or most of all Christians look bad, they prop it up and hype incessantly for all the socialist world to see.

Their socialists in office who share this disposition are doing what they have been put in office to do.

They are all pure scumbags who giggle like hyenas. They deserve zero respect.

If it were Jews that flew airplanes into the WTC on 9-11, there would have been a declaration of war declared by the Congress and Israel would not exist as we now know it. Does that answer your question?
Then why didn't congress declare war on Saudi Arabia after 911? As far as Jews murdering innocent Americans is concerned:
USS Liberty Contact Page

OBL wasn't in Saudi Arabia. and this from you link is why the US didn't declare war on Israel.

Shortly after the Sixth Fleet transmission of the rules of engagement to its dispatched rescue aircraft, the Israeli torpedo boats suddenly broke off their attack and transmitted messages asking if USS Liberty required assistance. At the same time, an Israeli naval officer notified the US Naval Attaché at the American Embassy in Tel Aviv that Israeli forces had mistakenly attacked a United States Navy ship and apologized. The Naval Attaché notified the United States Sixth Fleet and rescue aircraft were recalled before they arrived at the scene of the attack.
