It was an inappropriate comment, focusing people on Treyvan's race. The Presidential response would be to explain that he does not have enough facts to form a credible opinion... but, apparently, the 'smart law professor' doesn't seem to value knowing all the facts before wading into the fray. Not the first time he's proved that race matters more than facts.
Rick Santorum went after Zimmerman and Obama made a comment directed 'mainly to the parents' of Martin, and you keep trying to make people believe Obama entered into the fray without knowing all the facts?
Obama never commented on Zimmerman, Santorum must have spoken to god because he went to Zimmerman's intent
He was more circumspect than Santorum. None of them should be saying anything other than supporting due process. Due process has already found no evidence of guilt once. Now, the Feds are re-investigating - that's fine... but railroading an innocent man for the sake of political point scoring is as bad as allowing a guilty man to get away with murder.
It's not rocket science.
As I understand it, he followed a teenager because he was in a hoodie and black, it was raining, he told 911 what he saw and suspected, they informed him to stop following the boy, his subsequent comments were assumptive and condemining, he left his car and approached the teenager after being told not to, he got into an altercation of some sort and shot and killed a fellow human being, he is an asshole, racist, and wacho at best, and from what is known a murderer. Assholes with guns kill people. Judge jury and executioner all in one, how lovely.
You trust every word that the media tells you? How foolish. There are quite a few conflicting stories about what happened. You apparently accept the one that fits your preconceived opinions. I don't. I avoid forming an opinion about the case until ALL the facts are available.... particularly since the local LEOs did not find evidence of a crime originally.
Santorum just can't catch a break. It sounds like he gave a good answer to a loaded question but y'all lefties still hate him.
What's so "good" about declaring in advance of the evidence what Zimmerman's alleged "intent" was?
I don't think the President should prejudge such matters and Santorum has no better claim of right to doing so, either.
The President never prejudged Zimmerman, the GOP Reagan Conservative has prejudged Zimmerman as having had malicious intent
Question: Mr. President, may I ask you about this current case in Florida, very controversial, allegations of lingering racism within our society the so-called do not Im sorry Stand Your Ground law and the justice in that? Can you comment on the Trayvon Martin case, sir?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, Im the head of the executive branch, and the Attorney General reports to me so Ive got to be careful about my statements to make sure that were not impairing any investigation thats taking place right now.
But obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together federal, state and local to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.
So Im glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate whats taking place. I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.
But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. If I had a son, hed look like Trayvon. And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and that were going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
Thank you.
Exactly. And some of us would like Republicans not to act like Democrats like that.
Democrats did not interfere with Terry and Michael Schiavo's death bed medical issues, the Democrats did not call Congress into session in order to insert government into the most personal of citizen's private lives, and GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum, did.
Now GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum, has inserted his christian conservative views into the Zimmerman/Martin tragedy
This doesn't contradict what I said.
The President never prejudged Zimmerman, the GOP Reagan Conservative has prejudged Zimmerman as having had malicious intent
You are pathetic. Clearly Obama was saying to go after Zimmerman, not just to let the truth come out. Frankly it would have been a great chance to say if Zimmerman is guilty he needs to be held accountable, but the liberals need to STFU if it turns out that he was being threatened by the kid. He said nothing to calm anything down when he demanded endless investigation.

Actually, the President DID kind of insert his "opinion" into the matter, though not as glaringly as Santorum.
Santorum WAS dead wrong.
President Obama fares a little better.
But what he DID say went a bit too far. (I will concede though, that he said nothing overt.)

He COULD have ended his "reply" at the period of that first paragraph. HE should have.
MOST of the balance was pretty innocuous. Except, he just HAD to insert race into it.
And that is exactly what the second highlighted comment was. He gets a failing grade for inserting that into his largely unnecessary commentary.
Zimmerman had been arrested...
Let me get this straight....
I can now chase an unarmed guy down, start a fight with him, and then shoot him to death if I lose the fight.
Is this a great country of what?
Zimmerman had been arrested in 2005 on charges of resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer, according to court records.
Zimmerman had been the subject of earlier complaints by residents of the gated community in which he and Martin's family lived. At an emergency homeowner's association meeting earlier this month, one man was escorted out because he openly expressed his frustration because he had previously contacted the Sanford Police Department about Zimmerman approaching him and even coming to his home.
Zimmerman was also involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-fiance, Veronica Zauzo. Zauzo claimed Zimmerman was trolling her neighborhood to check on her. At her apartment, they spoke for about an hour when she asked him to leave. He asked for some photos and paperwork and she refused.
A pushing match ensued and her dog jumped up and bit him on the cheek, Zauzo claimed. Zimmerman, in a petition filed the next day, painted her as the aggressor, wanting him to stay the night.

Santorum On Zimmerman: Malicious Intent
Santorum on Face The Nation: Calls shooting Heinous and says Zimmerman had malicious intent.
Obama said he had a message mainly to the parents of Treyvan, and it was the he'd look like...comment.
Who weighed in with politically before all the facts were known, the Democrat of the Christian Conservative Republican who weighed in on a man wanting to pull the chord on his comatose wife?
Look who's on the side of your arguments -- radical extremist wingnuts/moonbats, or pragmatic realists like Obama.
Conservative Christians Unfit for Office | American Taliban | Rick Santorum
The inference is that ALL neighborhood watch programs are programs of malicious intent.
