The Democrats made a big mistake back in 2009, they sat on their butts bitching about George W Bush and the state of the economy rather than governing, result: The GOP came back in a big way in 2012 and 2016. They didn't win back the white house, but won many governorship's and most (if not all) of congress. The GOP is going down this same path. Republicans now control both houses of congress and the white house, and have yet to pass even 1 piece of major legislation, 5 months into this administration. Republicans whine and wail about Obamacare, but can't seem to agree on what to replace it with, they whine and wail about taxes, the budget, and infrastructure, but their is no movement on these either. Republicans: Time is running out for you. The voting public has a short fuse with political party's that can't seem to get anything done. You'd better get your house in order and get something done soon, or the Democrats are going to do it for you.

Republicans don't know how to / don't want to govern / unite.

Democrats only want to RULE and dictate.

So America is forced to elect one after being disgusted by the other, get buyer's remorse and switch back, only to have the process start all over again.

When libs are in charge the country erodes over time. When the GOP are in charge they 'stop the bleeding' but don't help the country to recover. Slowly but surely the country is being lost as a result of this seemingly never ending process...
