record deficit

Ah. If you eat out at McDonald's you are a slothful person!

Life can be hard. People make choices and want to blame it on others.

Says the person who blamed the Bush Great Recession on everyone except Bush.

This "life can be hard" slogan doesn't sound like the same Republicans who said the were going to MAGA

Now it sounds like you are saying America is what it is and if you aren't making enough that's your tough luck. That's a lot different than what Trump said when he was running. Sounds like you held Obama to a very high standard you don't hold Trump to.

Stupid fuckers all of you. Thank god you aren't bringing me down with you.
I suspect that retirement is going to become a lost concept and people will just work until they drop. Just one more reason out of thousands that I'm glad and thankful I was born when I was.
Average retirement age of current US retirees is 59.88 years. I too am glad to have been a Boomer but I don't share your gloom & doom outlook for the future.
You are half right, people do not save enough. But for most it is not because they are not paid enough, it is because they have to have the latest phone and 500 channels of shit on the TV and eat out 3 times a week.
Wait ... aren't they constitutionally guaranteed? Gov't should provide them for "free."

And you'll find an article that will explain how people make PLENTY of money to save they just don't...
So from one side of your always ignorant mouth comes "Americans Don’t Save for Retirement Because They Don’t Make Enough Money" and from the other it's "people make PLENTY of money to save they just don't."

Do you find life to be that confusing?

When Trump gets even close to the $10 trillion Obama racked up call us.
Nice try, dipshit. You fuckwits attacked Obama's spending right out of the gate. How DO you stand the stench of your own hypocrisy?
Forget the Obama vs Trump comparisons ... they are just political jabber. How 'bout we focus on our $22 TRILLION debt and the 2020 Democrat Socialist Party solution which entails big new programs, big new taxes to pay for them, and way bigger gov't to spend it all..

Does that make a lick of sense to anyone? Anyone?

And you'll find an article that will explain how people make PLENTY of money to save they just don't. Because again, this sounds like another right wing talking point that I used to hear a lot during the Bush 2000's...
...Here is my talking point for you. Anyone that has a smart phone with a data plan and says they do not make enough to save is lying. Anyone that eats out once a week and says they do not make enough to save is lying.
Ah. If you eat out at McDonald's you are a slothful person!
Wow. So now anyone who has a smartphone, basically a necessity in this day and age, and anyone who even eats out once a week is spending too much? Get the fuck out of here...
That's not what GG said. Both you and g5000 gave the same, childish response.

JFTR, almost anyone could save more if they chose to.

yep, until congress says stop spending, it's what you're gonna have, and have had for every president.

Actually, I think Bush II was the worst POTUS in history, you might want to pay attention before you make assumptions.

You just said almost anyone could save more if they chose to. Wasn't that true when Obama was president? So how is today any different for blue collar? It's not.

When Trump said he was going to make America great again didn't you assume he was going to take us back to when our parents could work 30 years and retire at 65? Not only that they did it with 1 income.

So don't give me that MAGA bullshit unless you think America was great back in 2005 because that's what Trump has taken us back to.

Christ sake, you really are that stupid. I agree, people don't save enough. Why is that? Because they don't make enough? How fricken stupid can you possibly get.

You are half right, people do not save enough. But for most it is not because they are not paid enough, it is because they have to have the latest phone and 500 channels of shit on the TV and eat out 3 times a week.

I provided a link to an article that explains how you are not correct. It's that people aren't making enough to save. Now can you provide a link to any articles or studies that prove your opinion or is this strictly conjecture on your part?

When I get home I will check out your article.

Thanks for calling me right wing! I do not get that much on here! :21:

I don't know about you but most people these days don't have a land line. Their cell phone is their only phone. Especially with people who are younger.

I haven't had a land line in years. My only phone is a cell phone.

Are you saying that it's not important to have a phone? It's very important to have a phone especially if a person is a parent or is disabled.

Cell phone rates are very cheap these days. It's not like when I started carrying one in 1993. Those bills were hundreds of dollars a month. Today, I have unlimited calls and unlimited texts with paying 12 dollars a gig for internet on my phone. People can pay as little as 15 dollars a month for a phone.

As for going out to eat, people who are strapped for cash don't go out to eat a lot. Just saying people go out to eat and applying it to everyone isn't fair or honest.

The reality is that most everyone in America isn't paid a living wage or what they're worth. People take multiple jobs to make ends meet. Reality is that people today don't make enough money to save for retirement. A lot of employers don't offer any sort of pension plan or even a 401k.

When the federal minimum wage has been 7.25 a hour since the bush boy years, there's a problem. When people who are working are paid so low wages that they qualify for pubic assistance, there's a very big problem.

Saying having a phone and eating is causing people to not be able to save for retirement is very simplistic and not honest. You're ignoring the real cause.

Well, we had to pay for this sugar high somehow.

Republicans are Reaganesque Keynesians at this point.

Spend, spend, spend. Even when the economy is growing.
.

Wasn't the 2017 grifter tax giveaway supposed to increase revenue? Pay for themselves?

And so on....

And the fact is, our parents could buy a phone, go out to eat once a week, vacation once a year, and retire by 62 if they worked for Ford or GM or 65 if they didn't save or weren't getting a pension.

Today most people aren't going to be able to retire when they are 70. This was a problem Trump said he would solve when he was running for president. He said he would MAGA for blue collar. Instead he made the rich richer.

I would have really given Trump credit if he gave a middle class only tax break. That would have benefited everyone because we would have taken that money and spent it at the rich people's businesses. Walmart would have benefited bigly.

It’s crazy.

The left refused to criticize O’s debt and now the right refuses to criticize Donnie’s debt.

Hell...the left likes to stupidly claim O had to do it to save the economy. Proof propaganda works.

When Trump gets even close to the $10 trillion Obama racked up call us.

I'm sorry, Dem's passed a spending cuts bill in the House?? No we didn't think so. :itsok:

Imagine how much Trump would spend if he were faced with a Great Recession. The greatest recession since the Great Depression.

Hell Trump's spending like a drunk sailor and we have a good economy.

And the feds have to lower interest rates to keep Trump's fake economy from going into a recession.

Don't worry Obama fixed the economy in the 8 years he ran things, right. /sarcasm

I find it interesting that:

Progs complain about budget when debt has actually slowed on Trump's watch. Bush doubled the debt, Obama doubled the debt. Trump will not follow suit, and may not even match Obama despite paying interest on Bush/Obama debt and having a greater GDP.

Progs complain about budget when they desire reparations, and passing college debt onto the government.

Progs complain about budget when they desire open borders. All while statistics prove immigrants receive more entitlements than citizens by household.

Progs complain about budget when they desire free healthcare, especially for illegals.

What I don't understand is why is the Feds going to lower interest rates? The way I’ve always understood it, the Fed is supposed to cut rates when the economy needs a boost. But how in the world do you argue that right now? Unemployment is at a record low, the stock market is at a record high (more on that in a minute), and the economy is purring right along. Our economic system is not in need of help. Unemployment at 3.7% and GDP growth at 3.1%? I can’t remember when these two numbers were that close.

How can Fed Chair Powell possibly reconcile these robust readings—which he himself cites—with a rate cut?

I’m not much of a Fed watcher (never mind a Fed basher), but in my 35 years of covering the financial markets, I’ve never been more vexed by what our central bank is up to.

Here's why the Fed's coming rate cut makes no sense

Why? It's Trump's fault. Literally.

Here’s Trump’s “house money” thought process: “The U.S. economy is in great shape. That means I can call out these other lame-o countries on trade. And if it hurts our economy, Powell will cut rates.”

I’d make the same argument with regard to the president’s confrontational policy with Iran.

To take this a step further, is it the case that because President Trump is so unpredictable, we, generally speaking, need lower rates during his tenure to mitigate that uncertainty?

Yes he did. The economy was booming just fine before Trump's tax breaks to the rich. And Trump's "stimulus" has just about run it's course. Now he has to cut interest? Pathetic. Take off the training wheels don.
