Reagan, worst prez in our lifetime

Damn

Reagan said "Tear down this wall" and the Soviets did it

Who would have thunk he had so much influence?

shhhhh ....

The nutters actually believe Ronnie Ray-Gun had something to do with it. You know, in between his endless vacations and completely our of control spending that makes Obama look like Scrooge, like Superman, with a flick of his finger, he tore down that wall.

Gorby told him he was going to take down the wall.

Then reagan did this little propaganda speech to cash in on it

I usually don't sink to a liberal's level and call the poster of a single post and idiot, but with this post, you earned it far more than you earned your food stamps.

look at the asshole who wanted the carnage of WWII to continue for another decade.

jesus these people are idiots

The Soviets were there for the taking.

After the Seige of Leningrad, the battle of Stalingrad, the Soviet Union was financially, economically and even morally exhausted and ripe for being eliminated from the face of the Earth as they so richly deserved, until they heard the good news that Roosevelt would give them a second chance to murder, enslave and kill people at their hearts' content.

Roosevelt enabled and encouraged Stalin and then Stalin enabled and encouraged the biggest butcher in human history, Mao Tse Tung, leading to 45 years of Cold War.

You talk about millions of lives, while forgetting that Stalin and the Soviets are responsible for about twenty million lives, and your friend and the friend and shining example of Obama and her lackies in the White House, Mao, responsible for sixty million murders.

Good going! Admire the enabler of killers, while you are besmirching Ronald Reagan whose efforts led to the soviet union's demise.

The Soviets proved they were willing to fight to the death. America would not have stood for the carnage.

The Soviets were responsible for killing 7 million Germans. They would not have rolled over for America.

Given our knowledge of the history of the Soviet Union, what purpose would an invasion have served?

Nobody was calling for invasion then... it was to get them out of western europe.. which with the Soviet's stretched thin, and who would be even thinner without help from the allies like they had been getting, the task could have been done... Patton and others were at least wise enough and had enough insight to see the problem that the Soviets were to the world

Patton had pushed into Plsen, Czechosovakia not 90 kilometers from here (Prague). He could have easily advanced to Prague and given the Poles and Hungarians hope of withstanding Soviet occupation and shattering Stalin's designs on Eastern Europe. We will never know for sure. It is Monday morning quarterbacking, but a healthier FDR might have rose to the challenge.

A catastrophe- and we're lucky his BS bluster didn't get hardliners to throw out Gorbrchev- who ended the USSR. Reagan ruined the nonrich and the country, produced the Pub propaganda machine disgrace, made hating the poor acceptable, and has Booosh and this depression as a legacy. The demented fool LOL.

The Demise of the American Middle Class In Numbers.

Over the past 60 years (actually 30, obviously) the American dream has gradually disappeared. The process was slow, so most people didn’t notice. They just worked a few more hours, borrowed a little more and cut back on non-essentials. But looking at the numbers and comparing them over long time periods, it is obvious that things have changed drastically. Here are the details:

1. WORKERS PRODUCE MORE BUT THE GAINS GO TO BUSINESS.

Over the past 63 years worker productivity has grown by 2.0% per year.

But after 1980, workers received a smaller share every year. Labor’s share of income (1992 = 100%):

1950 = 101%
1960 = 105%
1970 = 105%
1980 = 105% – Reagan
1990 = 100%
2000 = 96%
2007 = 92%

A 13% drop since 1980

2. THE TOP 10% GET A LARGER SHARE.

Share of National Income going to Top 10%:

1950 = 35%
1960 = 34%
1970 = 34%
1980 = 34% – Reagan
1990 = 40%
2000 = 47%
2007 = 50%

An increase of 16% since Reagan.

3. WORKERS COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF INCOME BY SPENDING THEIR SAVINGS.

The savings Rose up to Reagan and fell during and after.

1950 = 6.0%
1960 = 7.0%
1970 = 8.5%
1980 = 10.0% – Reagan
1982 = 11.2% – Peak
1990 = 7.0%
2000 = 2.0%
2006 = -1.1% (Negative = withdrawing from savings)

A 12.3% drop after Reagan.

4. WORKERS ALSO BORROWED TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS.

Household Debt as percentage of GDP:

1965 = 46%
1970 = 45%
1980 = 50% – Reagan
1990 = 61%
2000 = 69%
2007 = 95%

A 45% increase after 1980.

5. SO THE GAP BETWEEN THE RICHEST AND THE POOREST HAS GROWN.

Gap Between the Share of Capital Income earned by the top 1%
and the bottom 80%:

1980 = 10%
2003 = 56%

A 5.6 times increase.

6. AND THE AMERICAN DREAM IS GONE.

The Probably of Moving Up from the Bottom 40% to the Top 40%:

1945 = 12%
1958 = 6%
1990 = 3%
2000 = 2%

A 10% Decrease.

Reagan Destroyed the U.S.S.R with out even firing a shot any honest poster around the world would tell you that and he brought down the Berlin wall even Rodger Waters or Bono would tell you that

The OP is a loon.

'Nuff said.

More proof that the far left has to distract from the fact that Obama IS the worst president in history and that they need to start rewriting that history now.

The far left is no where close to being in touch with reality.

Criminalize Conservatism: Reagan: Worst President of Our Lifetime

Anyone want to add anything?

Reagan was not what most people think he was. He was not anywhere as bad as you state, and he was not anywhere near as conservative as conservatives like to believe. While Reagan did cut taxes, he cut them at a time that they were higher than they needed to be. When he saw that he had cut them too much, he raised them a bit. The one thing he did that I feel was quite smart was to keep the capital gains rate the same as the income tax rate. Since then, we have dropped the capital gains rate to extremely low levels. This has made it advantageous for the very wealthy in oh so many different ways. CEO's get paid with big stock options where they pay little in taxes. Anyone with any money takes the bulk of their earnings in capital gains. The only people who get nailed with really high tax rates are people like athletes who get stuck paying on their contracted salaries. If there was a way to pay them in stock options, I'm sure they would love to take advantage of those very same loopholes.

Nah, Reagan was a pragmatist. This is why he expanded government so much, because there was a need for it. At the same time though, he oversaw a very large expansion of our economy, so the near doubling of the federal government wasn't all that much out of line. Was Reagan perfect? Not by a long shot. But he wasn't a bad president in any way.

He did have great hair, style, and some really nice suits. I love the orchestrated bit with the helicopters still churning whenever CoS Baker didn't want him to hear the shouted questions from the press pool. That was clever.

Heck yea it was Ronnie who brought it down, it started with him firing the traffic controller Unions and U.S.S.R.woke up and knew Regan was serious and he out spent them.

And don't even use wiki around me to describe what happened back then because I was in my 20's and I paid attention.
