Rangel's Tragic End

Poor Charlie. Guess he'll just have to retire to his villa in the Dominican Republic, eat a ton of Caribbean lobster tail, drink gallons of Pina Colada's while Haitians on the other end of the island eat dirt and die in the thousands from preventable disease.
What a total sad ending.

And anyone that thinks he will be humiliated by Censure is dreaming. Kudos to you and your post here. Rangel has a leg up on humiliation...it's name is arrogance.

I predict that Kat will be along shortly to tell Boedickhead that her thread is 'tacky'.

Soon, I bet...

i think you're tacky synth (methaholic), you, one of the most gutless trollys here. (cheney looks awful)

i felt the same way about byrd boedicca... i wish someone around him would have had the common sense to usher him off the stage. charlie is an american institution and he deserves a lot for his years of service including being a korean war hero. nancy pelosi does all the same shit charie did (setting a new "club of the sons" (from metropolis) rockstar liberal standard) ...is sickening...
don't worry about charlie, he'll rise again and be better for it, so will america

He should have been fined. How many Joe the Plummers would have gotten a slap on the wrist for doing what Rangel did?

Now they can take care of that nasty bitch slut, Maxine Waters.

Corrine Brown (Dumbass), Florida, should have been called to account as well...

Corrine Brown seeks millions in earmarks for daughter's client

Rep. Corrine Brown has requested more than $1.1 million in earmarks for a shopping plaza.

But instead? She won re-election in a highly gerrymandered district.

Sobbing does not work as well for Dems it seems.

Not to defend Rangle in any way, he is scum and should go.

I find the delay in Water's Ethics Trial to be quite interesting - suspect one driver is that the Dems don't want to end their current majority on a note of censoring two prominent members of the Black Caucus.

I'm shocked they even censured Rangel. They must have really had no choice.

They had to do something with all the hype on this leading up to the elections [which I am willing to bet was a ploy by the Democrats to garner favour to further string us along to get votes]...and since they lost the House and a few Senate seats?

Think of how it would be percieved if they let it go? The people are angry enough at Congress.

Actually the people are not angry enough at Congress - yet. The whole lot of them needs to be dogged every single day and reminded that they might be next.

Albiet I heartily agree with your premise. ;)

*Thanks*

This is funny. Newt Gingrich did far worse..where were Republicans on that guy? What about Tom Delay? They wanted to change to rules for him.

But ol' Charlie? Who won a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart in Korea? They want him "to resign" or be "expelled".

This is the man you guys want to expell.

Rangel then enlisted in the United States Army, and served from 1948 to 1952.[10] During the Korean War, he was a member of the all-black 503rd Field Artillery Battalion in the 2nd Infantry Division.[11]

In late November 1950, this unit was caught up in heavy fighting in North Korea as part of the U.N. forces retreat from the Yalu River. In the Battle of Kunu-ri, Rangel was part of a vehicle column that was trapped and attacked by the Chinese Army.[11] In the subzero cold, Rangel was injured by shrapnel from a Chinese shell.[12] Some U.S. soldiers were being taken prisoner, but others looked to Rangel, who though only a private first class had a reputation for leadership in the unit. Rangel led some 40 men from his unit, during three days of freezing weather, out of the Chinese encirclement. Nearly half of the battalion was killed in the overall battle.[13]

Rangel was awarded a Purple Heart for his wounds and the Bronze Star with Valor for his actions in the face of death.[14] His Army unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation,[15] the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and three battle stars.[14] In 2000, Rangel reflected with CBS News that

Dredging up the military stuff eh? I'm fine with him in that capacity. It's his political side that has him in trouble...as it is with Juan McCain.

Nice Ploy. Nice try. No soap. Thanks for playing.

Nice Ploy. Nice try. No soap. Thanks for playing.

So you're suggesting that the rules and precendent be changed for Rangel as well..

Gotcha.

Rangel has not even been charged with anything..so this is sort of extraordinary. Generally the ways these things work..is a charge is made in a court..and then hearings are brought up in congress.

That didn't happen here. Rangel wasn't charged with any tax evasion violations in a court of law.

So you want to give him a lifetime pass because of what he did as a soldier 60 years ago? Or is it just because he's a Democrat?

Did you want to see Newt in Jail? How about Tom Delay?

Hey lets go up the food chain. George W. Bush committed a major crime in the Harken stock deal. You want him in the pokey too? He made much more cash then Rangel did on the deal.

Just wondering if this sense of justice is bi-partisan.

And you do know that most of the time the IRS just fines you for this sort of stuff. Right?

You want that to change? Or just in Rangel's case.

Life time pass for what?

I am all for law and order.

And following rules, protocol and precendent.

So show me where a senator or representative did something they weren't caught red-handed doing or charged..and got this sort of treatment.

And you may want to look up when the last time a congressperson was expelled from Congress.

Proportionality factors into justice as well.
