Rand Paul, enemy of socialized medicine, will go to Canada for surgery

Is he standing in line and getting free healthcare,
No. Way to pay attention.:113:
or is he jumping to the front of the line with a fist full of cash? If its the latter, where is the hypocrisy?
You assume there is a long line waiting to put down their own money for hernia surgery, which is an absurd assumption, given there is no evidence of that. Or that Rand Paul didn't schedule himself into this clinic
long ago. Both are idiotic assumptions.
Be careful you don't give yourself a hernia stretching to false conclusions.

Did he pay or not? If he did, then there is no hypocrisy.

No hypocrisy. The facility is private and Paul is paying cash.
But if America has the best healthcare in the world, why is he going to Canada? Have we no top-of-the-line facilities that can handle a hernia? There must be more to this than is publicly known.

Dr. Paul is a surgeon in his own right. He's in a good position to determine who the best man to operate on him is, and the merits of various surgical methods.

I'm sure his selection of this private facility and doctor wasn't based on political considerations.

------------------------------ probably doesn't have the BEST anymore , those days might be long gone and its ok with me Bullwinkle ,

is Rand going to pay out-of-pocket for the procedure at this hospital or we, the US taxpayers, going to pay for it through his Congressional health insurance? We all know the answer to that.

I presume the guy that beat the shit out of him is paying. Why? Are you going to start a GoFundMe account for Paul?

Communications director Kelsey Cooper called Shouldice Hernia Hospital “a private, world renowned hospital separate from any system and people come from around the world to pay cash for their services.”

Nothing to see here.
Actually there’s quite a bit to see. The biggest scare tactic used in the US to justify suppression of universal care is how it will kill good innovative private healthcare.

Apparently that’s a myth. So, that’s huge actually.

Not really. How much does it cost? How much private competition is there? What would the cost and amount of competition be absent government health care?

The system we have now is already subsidized by the government at huge wastefulness too.

There’s bound to be a bit of competition in private care because if there is any market, there’s always competition. Is your objection that government care that’s affordable for the working poor would keep even private hospitals making a reasonable profit instead of a killing off human suffering?

No doubt traveling and lodging at tax payer expense.

Why not at the expense of the liberal who assaulted Dr. Paul? If the government has to pay the expense as per their policy, they can collect it from the responsible party.

The good doctor is there for surgery, not for a vacation or junket.

So funny. So hypocritical. He's a natural born asshole.

I don't understand where you think the " hypocrisy" is at here?

What Dr. Rand wants, what conservatives want is MEDICAL FREEDOM. And that's exactly what Dr. Paul pursued for his own needs. A private clinic abroad could do the best job for him in his opinion, so that's what he went for.

A lot different than relying on a Government Death Panel to determine what treatments you can receive

Actually, while owned by a private corporation, it receives funding from the government like public hospitals. The only customers that really pay are international ones. If you're from Ontario - where the hospital is located, surgery and doctor services are billed to the government health plan. If from the rest of Canada, the surgery is billed to the respective provincial health plan.
