His assessment is accurate, "just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history," to borrow his language. FDR, Johnson, and Lincoln are all associated with similar periods of activist government and, judging from the rhetoric around here, I would imagine most conservatives agree that he's in good company with those men when it comes to his philosophy of government. The reality is, the first two years of his presidency was one of the most productive (legislatively) in American history.
