Pot use lowers intelligence. This doesn't surprise me at all

Dippy bitch? Try this one on for size: National President's list scholar and Eva Seen scholarship recipient. And try this one on:
NO

Do you now get my drift? I sense that you do not. Therefore, now hear this in mama lion terms:

Meow!
&
HISSSSSSSS!
Got it swabbie?
:lmao:

Got it............you know nothing of which you speak. And nobody is saying children should smoke pot.

So............take your soggy pussy elsewhere bitch.
Nope. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your lies will not stop me from protecting American children from your open-minded brain malfunction that tells you eliminate all obstacles between and pot use, no matter who the hell gets in your way.

I'm standing in front of American children between them and you.

You may not have access to destroying what little American children have. A lot of them have abusive parents who don't give a damn about them, but I do, I'm going to, and you'll have to stop me in some other way.

Wise people will not let shillers for pot destroy America's children. You certianly don't give a damn about them. I do. I will prevail over your shilling for legal pot. You can't have their minds. They belong to the future and not to a future of confusion from pot and malfunction due to cannabis.

I'm curious scientist, how about the scourge of cell phones? I watch imbeciles texting at 80 miles an hour, I'll walk down the concourse of an airport and see 100 people who are all screwing around with one of those silly things. What will be the repercussions of kids staring at 4" screens for most of the hours of the day? Reading text after text of ridiculously misspelled words, the radiation problems, the mechanical stealing of attentions, social skills and awareness of their surroundings. I see a person staring at their screens while walking through a mall parking lot and I see a target. They will either walk in front of a car going too fast or get jacked by the loser predator out for an easy score.
The addiction to the cell phone is much worse than smoking pot....... and as for the 60 times more powerful.......that is beyond bullshit. Thai Sticks, Acapulco Gold, Panama Red........the last time I smoked was some outstanding Hydro and it was not any stronger than these from the past. I would love to have 10 pounds of Gold! Nothing comes close to the smell and taste of the Gold.

Long-time pot user here. Non democrat. Libertarian, basically.

Despite my love for marijuana and its intoxicating effects, I'm tired as shit of these hippies telling me how good it is for you. In terms of immediate effects, marijuana ups my pulse rate, marginally slows my reaction time, and makes multi-tasking significantly more difficult. But holy shit does it make watching movies and playing videogames fun as shit. When I was heavily into martial arts training in my younger years, I used to -love- sparring stoned, but holy shit after a couple bong rips my cardiovascular stamina went way downhill for the duration of the high.
The effect of marijuana is not intoxicating. Rather, its effect is tranquilizing. Unlike beverage alcohol there is nothing toxic about marijuana. It is perfectly benign. And if you know some "hippies" who tell you that marijuana is good for you, could be they recognize something about your personality they feel might benefit from a little mood adjustment now and then.

The only place where pot ever really benefitted me in any real way was -possibly- in terms of creativity when I'd draw or compose shitty music.
You speak of enhancement of the creative impulse as if it were inconsequential. Some find it to be of paramount importance to their creative output. And if marijuana were legal you might be surprised at how many highly successful writers, artists (including one famous cartoonist whom I know well), and musicians would openly declare its usefulness to them.

Anyway, what I'm getting at, to begin with, is that marijuana is IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM a performance enhancing substance. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to romanticize a favored passtime, which is pretty natural among humans. "I like this, and I'm me, and I know that me wouldn't like something unless there was a real, measurable reason to like it."

I suggest instead of getting "stoned" each time you fire up your bong you content yourself with just enough to make you "glow" a bit. You might find that you've been opening a creative channel and then blocking it by overdoing the very source of enlightenment.

Bottom line: The ultimate effect of marijiana depends entirely on the individual who makes use of it. And smoking it is neither the only way nor the best way to use it. Eating it, as in brownies or carrot cake, etc., produces a much different, more pleasant, longer lasting and less numbing effect.

Just don't reach for emotional paralysis, which is the mistake too many users make. Marijuana is not good for escaping reality. It has its usefulness -- and a little dab'll do ya.

Ok, I'm too lazy to separate the quotes for this, so I'll just number the responses.

1. I'll leave the vocabulary point alone and concede that one to you. On the other hand, when I mention hippies, I'm talking about all these health and general performance benefits I'm supposed to be getting by inhaling a burning plant fiber. Most of the people I party with, hippy types included (tho there aren't many hippies that I vibe well with), are very understanding when I step out of the rotation after a hit or two. Shit makes me introspective, quiet, and noids me out after a few hits, which is totally counterproductive to social events. Typically, people around me agree that I'm a lot more fun when I'm not lit up like a Christmas tree on that ganj. That said, a little mood adjustment now and then isn't just something a hippy would tell me I could benefit from, it's something I would tell me I could benefit from. Thanks for noticing ;)

2. I'm well aware that many popular, successful, and even arguably great artists swear by marijuana (as well as other substances) in terms of unlocking their creative juices. Doug Stanhope, who's practically my idol, is among them. I say "possibly" in this context due to my own experience. When I create shit sober then go back and check it out later, some of it's good, most of it's garbage. When I create shit stoned (at various levels of "tranquility"), some of it's good, most of it's garbage. The difference isn't really noticable for me. It's like praying to Jesus or praying to Joe Pesci. . . I get about the same 50/50 success rate on those prayers being answered, adjusted for personal effort toward whatever end for which I happen to be petitioning random potential deities.

3. No need to explain moderation to me, even when it comes to pot. When I'm alone at home, I'm a single toker. One hit at a time, see how that one does you, repeat as necessary. In about 15 years of regular pot use, I like to think I've got something of a handle on how to achieve what level of effect I desire. Thanks for your concern, but it really isn't necessary.

Eaten and vaped quite a bit in my time, too. I'll agree that edibles are much longer lasting, but less numbing? Not for me.

Lastly, emotional paralysis via marijuana is about the dumbest idea I've heard in a long time. Though the shit carries the stigma of forgetfulness, I find that if you're looking to escape an emotion that's hard on your heels, weed has exactly the opposite effect. It causes me to dwell on whatever it is I'd rather not think about.

Realistically, anybody who uses any substance to escape emotion is silly as shit in my book. Done a lot of drugs in my time, never had one that didn't amplify whatever mood I was in in its own way. If you're depressed and can't figure out why, get better at self-diagnosing. Once you figure out why you're depressed, take steps toward eliminating/solving whatever it is in your life that's got you down. Drugs should be used to enhance good times, not escape bad ones.

Becki, I'm assuming you're a teacher and around kids a lot because of that.

Would you say a kid can get his/her hands on some weed more easily than they can on a bottle of alcohol? My impression is that they can get their hands on the marijuana more easily, but I don't have the experience that you do.

If so, then having it legal, yet controlled, might just make it less easy for the kids to get their hands on it.

And, I am no fan of weed nor am I a fan of stoners.
I hate to draw a line down the middle, but they can get either thanks to #@*&!$ cell phones.

As someone who NEVER used pot, I noticed as I went through the 60s and 70s and 80s, that those who even used harder drugs seemed to keep quick intelligence (somewhat), but those who heavily used pot, just went to DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it was encapsulated in a conversation my brother had with one of our fast friends who was growing pot in one of his stereo speakers (so his mom would not see it).

"Say Brian, how many joints (they were called joints not blunts back in the day) do you smoke a day?"

"Oh about one a day."

"So how many do you smoke a week?"

"Oh about 10."

My brother laughed, but there's nothing funny really about it. Didn't occur to Brian what was funny.

In the book "Boy Clinton," the author postulated that the reason liberals, especially the 60s hippy generation never learned from their mistakes is because they couldn't. All those years of drug use had rendered their brains encapable of learning from their mistakes and failures.

I also noticed that people like Clinton and Hillary had the emotional maturity of teenagers. The "I didn't inhale" president most certainly did.

Cannabis smoking 'permanently lowers IQ'

Teenagers who regularly smoke cannabis are putting themselves at risk of permanently damaging their intelligence, according to a landmark study.

By Stephen Adams, Medical Correspondent | Telegraph.co.uk

Researchers found persistent users of the drug, who started smoking it at school, had lower IQ scores as adults.

They were also significantly more likely to have attention and memory problems in later life, than their peers who abstained.

Furthermore, those who started as teenagers and used it heavily, but quit as adults, did not regain their full mental powers, found academics at King’s College London and Duke University in the US.

They looked at data from over 1,000 people from Dunedin in New Zealand, who have been followed through their lives since being born in 1972 or 1973.

Now, this is going to JUST send the pot users into conniption fits. Mostly because all addicts refuse to accept they can't handle their addiction. It's part of the ego and pride.

(And yes, I mean addiction. Pot raises the serotonin in your brain, and it falls later, and you get depressed (the crash). It gets to the point you can't feel happy without the pot. That's an addiction. Yes it is.)

Don't believe me? Look at every drunk driver video. No matter how obviously impaired they are, they refuse to believe they can't drive. It's a matter of ego and pride.

No, different with pot users. They are emotional to the point of not being able to discuss the subject objectively.

How do I know? Because of the STUPID argumements they use to justify their use.

"How would you know how pot affects you? You've never used it."

To which I've always responded: "I don't have to jump off the cliff to know it's a stupid thing to do, I just watch the other moron do it, to know it's a stupid thing to do."

"Well what about alcohol??? How come it's legal?"

To which I respond: "What of it? Are you suggesting getting drunk on alcohol vs. pot is better or worse? Maybe that's why there are some of us who don't do either."

Then there is the really ludicrous argument. "Well, I can smoke pot and drive where I couldn't on alcohol."

Yeah, well the drunk driver thinks he's fine to drive, too!"

Then there is the "medical marijuana" argument. Which amounts to pot heads hiding behind the sick and dying to justify getting stoned.

Which I would liken to a morphine user justifying morphine based on the fact my dying father was prescribed it, when he was dying of cancer, for his pain.

NOT the same thing people. It's still hiding behind the sick and dying to justify getting stoned.

Is anyone going to tell me morphine is "beneficial?" But pot is?

And if you even question this, you are "hard hearted" because of the sick and dying, when most "medical marijuana" users are perfectly fine, and will use any excuse possible to justify getting the pot.

Now let the tirade of of outraged pot heads begin.

They have something in common with libs. They know if people factually discuss the issue, they lose.

So, they HAVE to hide behind the sick and dying, to shut up any real discussion as "hard heated."

Which is what you do when you know the facts aren't on your side. You shut up any discussion of the facts.

Sheesh, you 'Conservatives' better never try weed then. When you are in the lower two digit category, you just cannot afford to lose anymore.
